Donald Trump was recently asked by a reporter, why he labels Joe Biden as a “criminal”. The former president did not hold back in his response.
This comes in the wake of the “Twitter Files” released by Elon Musk last week, which exposed collusion between the Biden administration and Twitter employees to suppress content on the social media platform. They particularly chose to censor the Hunter Biden Laptop story published by the New York Post, which uncovered the suspicious business dealings of Hunter Biden among other things.
In the video, Trump is asked by the reporter, “You need to call Biden a criminal, why is that?” See the video of the interaction below.
Donald Trump slams the reporters question, giving a fiery retort:
“He is a criminal, he’s a criminal. He got caught, read his laptop and you know who’s a criminal? You’re a criminal for not reporting it. You are a criminal for not reporting it. “
Let me tell you something. Joe Biden is a criminal and he’s been a criminal for a long time. And you’re a criminal in the media for not reporting it.”
Trump’s response refers to the silence from many mainstream media outlets and their refusal to cover the “Twitter Files” which unearthed undeniable corruption between the now president and Twitter employees who willingly silenced individual Twitter users and content. Some have even compared this level of corruption to that of the Watergate scandal with President Nixon, calling for Joe Biden’s resignation.
However, some political figures have indicated this situation will not go without investigation. Representative James Comer has indicated he will lead an investigation into the Twitter Files now that the House is majority Republican. Rep. Comer is the incoming chairman of the House Oversight Committee.
Comer stated:
“I can promise you this, every employee at Twitter who was involved in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story will have an opportunity to come before Congress and explain their actions to the American people. This was a huge story. … But this story’s just beginning, Jason, because we’re going to have every single person at Twitter that was involved in this in front of the House Oversight Committee as soon as possible.”
Furthermore, Republican senators have been pushing an ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden’s alleged crimes. The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware has been actively investigating Hunter Biden. GOP senators have requested special protections for U.S. Attorney Weiss while he oversees the investigation, given the magnitude of the circumstances.
Sen. John Cornyn, Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Chuck Grassley, and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stated in a letter:
“There is no way of knowing the entire scope of the investigation, but evidence seems to be mounting that Hunter Biden committed numerous federal crimes, including, but not limited to, tax fraud, money laundering, and foreign-lobbying violations.”
“Given that the investigation involves the President’s son, we believe it is important to provide U.S. Attorney Weiss with special counsel authorities and protections to allow him to investigate an appropriate scope of potentially criminal conduct, avoid the appearance of impropriety, and provide additional assurances to the American people that the Hunter Biden investigation is free from political influence.”
