In another moment that was funny to watch but distressing given the amount of control exercised by such people over America’s fate, Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania had a “Biden moment” when speaking in the Senate. He read what he was supposed to say off the instructions sheet, accidentally including one of the directions and looking ridiculous, then catching it and laughing at himself.
That incident occurred on Thursday, June 13, when Fetterman was on the Senate floor and adjourning the Senate session. He had, as part of that job, to read a certain line and then bang the gavel, which led to him accidentally reading off the “bang gavel” instruction that was included with the line he had to read, he then caught himself shortly afterward and started chuckling.
In the video of the incident, which was captured on tape by CSPAN, Sen. Fetterman, reading through the instructions, says, “Under the previous order, the Senate stands adjourned until 3 p.m. on Monday. Bang gavel.” He then catches his snafu and chuckles.
Commenting on the clip of the incident that took off on X (formerly Twitter), people said things like, “I’m not a Democrat, but I am happy to see how far he’s come since his stroke. And unlike a majority of our politicians, he just seems like a regular guy” and “At least he knows when he made a mistake, Biden continues on… Just wondering was he wearing Sweatpants under the desk?”
Another joked that she had made a similar mistake before, saying, “Been there done that. Years ago I played for the first time in a womens indoor lacrosse league. Before the first game the captain went “Stars on 3″. I repeated every single word. Embarassing, but worth a laugh.” And yet another commenter added that Fetterman’s gaffe was something Biden would do, saying, “Joe moment, right there.”

Biden has indeed read off the teleprompter before. One of the more infamous incidents in which that occurred came when he read off “pause” when he was supposed to pause and wait for a reaction from the crowd after saying “four more years.” The American Tribune, reporting on that awkward gaffe when it occurred, said:
Throughout Biden’s presidency, he has delivered many slip-ups and gaffes in his public speaking engagements. As the presidential election approaches, 81-year-old Joe Biden’s mental and physical health have become increasingly scrutinized.
During recent remarks from Biden at North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) Legislative Conference, the president appeared to read off the teleprompter verbatim, misunderstanding that the word “pause” was a cue for him to stop speaking and let the audience react to his statements.
RNC Research, an X account run by the Republican National Committee, uploaded a clip from the event where Biden says, “Imagine what we can do next.” He proceeds to read directly off of the teleprompter in a seemingly confused manner, “Four more years? Pause?”
