The SAVE America Act has finally been brought forward for debate and, hopefully, eventually a vote in the United States Senate. It has already passed in the House of Representatives. As such, those GOP Senators who are willing to take a stand for President Trump have been making powerful defenses of it to combat the absurdity pushed by the radical left.
Particularly, the GOP has harped on the fact that legislation requiring Voter ID and Proof of Citizenship is incredibly popular in America. Polling shows that massive supermajorities of every demographic imaginable, from Democrats to Republicans, and across racial and ethnic groups, support voter ID legislation.
As such, President Trump has been pushing the SAVE America Act, saying, for example, “The Save America Act is one of the most IMPORTANT & CONSEQUENTIAL pieces of legislation in the history of Congress, and America itself. NO MORE RIGGED ELECTIONS! Voter I.D., Proof of Citizenship, No Rigged Mail-In Voting (We are the only Country in the World that allows this!)”.
He added, “90% to 99% ISSUES ALL! Only sick, demented, or deranged people in the House or Senate could vote against THE SAVE AMERICA ACT. If they do, each one of these points, separately, will be used against the user in his/her political campaign for office – A guaranteed loss!” Further, he vowed to oppose any legislator who doesn’t back the act.
Thanks in large part to that pressure, a number of Republicans have stood up to push and support the bill. Amongst those who did so was Sen. Ted Cruz, who spoke on the floor of the Senate and noted how absurd it is that photo ID is seemingly required for everything except voting in America.
He said, “You need a photo ID to enroll in college. You need a photo ID to open a bank account. You need a photo ID to check into a hotel.” He continued, “And I got to admit, this is my personal favorite: You need a photo ID — actually, two photo IDs — to shovel snow in New York City.”

This isn’t the first time that Sen. Cruz has made such an argument. Speaking about it on Newsmax in the recent past, he said, “Democrats arguments that Hispanics and African Americans can’t get IDs that essentially were too dumb to get IDs. Well, you know what, I’m proud to be an Hispanic, and somehow the process of getting a driver’s license was not that complicated.”
He continued, “You need an ID to drive a car, you need an ID to buy a beer at a bar. You need an ID to get on an airplane. You need an ID to get married. You need an ID to watch an R-rated movie. And here’s, here’s the kicker. You know what you need an ID to do to go to the Democratic National Convention?”
Concluding, the senator noted, “In fact, my one of my colleagues, John Ossoff, the very liberal democrat from Georgia, he had a big rally standing up saying, photo ID is racist. It is terrible. You needed to go to John Ossoff rally a photo ID.”
