The speculation about whether former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was drunk on live TV has returned once again after she slurred her way through an MSNBC interview, which led conservatives to roast her in the comments section on X after she went viral for her bizarre behavior.

For context, in an interview with former White House press secretary Jen Psaki on June 30, 2024, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi embarrassed herself by slurring her speech, staunchly defending former President Joe Biden, and launching into a full-fledged attack on President Trump, making a spectacle of the fact that she tore up the president’s State of the Union speech because it was a “manifesto of lies.”

Beginning the interview, Psaki said she wanted to “talk about Joe Biden,” adding, “You know him so well. ” Psaki went on to say that there were “some alarming things” that President Trump had said during a recent debate, and asked Pelosi to respond. Pelosi began by incoherently saying, “Well, how are you? Good to see you. Competition for that moment…it’s…competition for that moment.”

Next, Pelosi said that President Trump’s statements during the recent debate were “a constant manifesto, again, of lies.” She added, “As you may recall, I tore up his speech to the State of the Union because it was a total manifesto of lies.” Pelosi went on to condemn President Trump for not sending in the National Guard on January 6, 2021, adding, “For him to talk about Roe v. Wade the way he did, either he doesn’t know what he’s talking about or he’s totally lying, or both.”

Then, Pelosi staunchly defended Biden, saying, “In terms of performance, for Joe Biden, he’s so much better than that, but what it means to people in their lives, he answered questions about policy.” She continued, “How can you…have a…legitimate debate, when somebody is totally lying, you have to totally dispel their falsehoods.”

Later, Pelosi said that Joe Biden had created “six, 15 million new jobs.” She added, “The other guy, the worst job, performance, since Herbert Hoover, and he’s saying, ‘Oh, he did this, they did that in terms of COVID.’ It was terrible.” Pelosi then said, “His denial and his, and his delay on COVID killed people. His, what he did on January 6, people died or were hurt.”

Moreover, Pelosi said of President Trump, “This is a dangerous person and evil,” adding that his fiscal policies “will have inflation go up,” before changing the subject and saying, “So again, it is, I mean, if you talk about climate, and he sat with, he sat with the fossil fuel industry, and said, ‘Give me a billion dollars for my campaign so I can reverse what they’ve done to…set…save the planet.”

After the clip of Pelosi’s interview went viral, conservatives brutally roasted her in the comments and speculated that she was drunk on air. The X user Old School Eddie wrote, “She fueled up (vodka) and is now running the circuit doing as much damage control as she can.” Another commenter chimed in, “Why is she slurring her speech? Is she drunk? Or did she have an undisclosed stroke?”
