Speaking to the media on July 1, the same day as he toured Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz detention center for illegal aliens, President Donald Trump cracked some hilarious jokes about the alligators at the facility. As could be expected, those jokes resulted in a good bit of offended outrage from leftists online.
As background, Alligator Alcatraz is a 3,000-bed facility constructed by the state of Florida and nestled deep in the Florida Everglades, where it is surrounded by alligators. The purpose of the facility, as explained by Tom Homan, is to serve as a last stop for illegal aliens caught in America, so that they can be deported from it after a hearing and have nearly no chance to escape while that hearing occurs.
In any case, one of the very funny jokes came when the president was in Florida, standing on the tarmac alongside Gov. Ron DeSantis and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. What precipitated a joke about having alligators serve as cops was a reporter asking him, “Is this the model going forward, Mr. President?”
He said, in response, while DeSantis smirked, that the camp is “beautiful” and secured by alligators serving as cops guarding the facility to prevent the illegals from escaping. In his words: “It can be. You don’t always have land so beautiful and so secure. We have a lot of bodyguards and a lot of cops in the form of alligators.”
Still not done, he joked that it would be very unideal to be trying to escape through the Everglades with those alligator cops, saying, “I wouldn’t want to run through the Everglades for long. We’ll keep people where there’s no speed. It’s a very important thing.” He then concluded by noting that Gov. DeSantis had done a great job building the facility and that the administration was scoring historic wins in securing the southern border. Watch him here:

That wasn’t all. At another very funny moment, this one outside the White House, the president joked about prisoners having to be taught to zig-zag as they run so as to not be eaten by the alligators guarding the facility, as alligators are notorious for being able to run suprisingly quickly in a straight line but can’t track bakc and forth movement well.
Cracking that joke about the snakes and alligators in the Everglades and how the prisoners need to be taught to avoid getting eaten when asked about the matter of prisoner safety, he said, “Snakes are fast, but alligators are big. We’re going to teach them how to run away from an alligator, okay, if they escape prison…Don’t run in a straight line!”

Predictably, those comments set the left off, with some claiming it was un-Christian to support detaining invaders. One such commenter wrote, “This is Donald Trump joking and laughing about alligators killing people at “Alligator Alcatraz” in Florida. No Christian who takes Jesus seriously can defend this. It is evil. It is sick. It is diabolical. Every human being is made in the image of God.”
Similarly, another leftist lied and claimed that alligators are being transported to the “concentration camp” to eat the illegals and that such a plan is “deeply evil,” writing, “i’m just finding out that that alligator alcatraz isn’t just a stupid name but that they’re actually putting alligators around the concentration camp so if people try to escape they’ll get eaten alive by alligators. genuinely deeply evil sh*t” That is untrue, as X’s Community Notes noted.
