In a historic speech delivered on Friday, March 14, President Donald Trump vowed to use his full powers as president to go after the Deep State. That speech, which focused mainly on the Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors who targeted him alongside Jack Smith, was delivered inside the DOJ’s famous Great Hall.
As background, President Trump has so far been understandably less than merciful in exacting retribution on those who went after him with lawfare in the wake of his first administration. In fact, his administration has already fired all of those prosecutors who were involved in the lawfare against him under Jack Smith.
Beginning the retribution portion of his speech, President Trump vowed to cleanse the DOJ of the “corrupt hacks” who waged war on him and conservatives. He said, “First, we must be honest about the lies and abuses that have occurred within these walls. Unfortunately, in recent years, a corrupt group of hacks and radicals within the ranks of the American government obliterated the trust and goodwill built up over generations.”
Continuing, he explained what was so bad about what they did, and how they lied just to target him with hoaxes and lawfare. He said, “They weaponized the vast powers of our intelligence and law enforcement agencies to try and thwart the will of the American people.” He then gave the example of those who signed the Hunter Biden laptop letter, a knowing lie that was meant to aid Biden in the 2020 election.
He then described them as utterly awful people, saying, “But these are people that are bad people. Really bad people. They tried to turn America into a corrupt communist and third-world country, but in the end, the thugs failed and the truth won, freedom won, justice won, democracy won, and above all, the American people won.”
Returning to the matter of explaining what was so bad about what they did, President Trump said, “There could be no more heinous betrayal of American values, then to use the law to terrorize the innocent and reward the wicked. That’s what they were doing at a level that’s never been seen before, and it’s exactly what you saw with Joe Biden, Merrick Garland, and their cronies [do over the] last four years.”
Giving some examples of their lawfare against the American people, he said, “What they’ve ripped down is incalculable, but what you’re going to build up is likewise something that will be breaking all sorts of records. They set loose violent criminals while targeting patriotic parents at school board meetings. They dropped charges against Antifa and Hamas supporters, while labeling traditional Catholics as domestic terrorists.”

Then, after giving yet more examples of lawfare against ordinary Americans, he vowed to exact retribution and obliterate those who did such things, adding that the American people have given him a mandate to take the corruption on. He said, “Our predecessors turned this Department of Justice into the Department of Injustice. But I stand before you today to declare that those days are over and they are never going to come back. They’re never coming back. So now, as the chief law enforcement officer in our country, I will insist upon and demand full and complete accountability for the wrongs and abuses that have occurred. The American people have given us a mandate, a mandate like few people thought possible.”
