The war on the Deep State has begun, and the Trump Administration is putting the pedal to the metal in an attempt to force out the worse of the Deep State bureaucrats who did so much to harm the president in and after his first term. Recently, that took the form of the Trump Department of Justice firing the prosecutors who targeted President Trump.
That move came on Monday, January 27, Then, the Department of Justice announced that it had fired several career lawyers who had been involved in prosecuting President Trump. Those now-fired lawyers had worked on special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation, which led to indictments that were dismissed by Smith, who also resigned, after Trump won the election.
Commenting on the matter to NBC News, an official with the Department of Justice wrote those those who “played a significant role” in the lawfare campaign had been fired. The statement read, “Today, Acting Attorney General James McHenry terminated the employment of a number of DOJ officials who played a significant role in prosecuting President Trump.”
Continuing, the DOJ official noted that the firings came because the current acting Attorney General does not think that they would have been able to faithfully execute President Trump’s agenda. The official told NBC News, “In light of their actions, the Acting Attorney General does not trust these officials to assist in faithfully implementing the President’s agenda. This action is consistent with the mission of ending the weaponization of government.”
According to the Washington Post, which also reported on the matter, acting Attorney General James McHenry wrote a memo to those affected by the move in which he said, in part, “Given your significant role in prosecuting the president, I do not believe that the leadership of the department can trust you to assist in implementing the president’s agenda faithfully.”
The firings come alongside Trump’s other moves against the weaponized prosecution arm of the government. In a day one executive order on the matter, he said, “The American people have witnessed the previous administration engage in a systematic campaign against its perceived political opponents, weaponizing the legal force of numerous Federal law enforcement agencies and the Intelligence Community against those perceived political opponents in the form of investigations, prosecutions, civil enforcement actions, and other related actions.”
It continued, “These actions appear oriented more toward inflicting political pain than toward pursuing actual justice or legitimate governmental objectives. Many of these activities appear to be inconsistent with the Constitution and/or the laws of the United States, including those activities directed at parents protesting at school board meetings, Americans who spoke out against the previous administration’s actions, and other Americans who were simply exercising constitutionally protected rights.”

The EO next noted, “The prior administration and allies throughout the country engaged in an unprecedented, third-world weaponization of prosecutorial power to upend the democratic process. It targeted individuals who voiced opposition to the prior administration’s policies with numerous Federal investigations and politically motivated funding revocations, which cost Americans access to needed services.”
Further, given examples of the astounding weaponization of the government, the executive order said, “The Department of Justice even jailed an individual for posting a political meme. And while the Department of Justice has ruthlessly prosecuted more than 1,500 individuals associated with January 6, and simultaneously dropped nearly all cases against BLM rioters.”
And, explaining the purpose of the executive order, the introductory section of it concluded by providing, “Therefore, this order sets forth a process to ensure accountability for the previous administration’s weaponization of the Federal Government against the American people.”
