President Trump called out a litany of powerful figures in business and politics for their close ties to Jeffrey Epstein, admonishing the press to focus on the wrongdoings of a group of financiers who the president claimed “lived” with the infamous predator, along with several prominent Democrats.
For background, before departing for Scotland on July 25, 2025, President Trump answered reporters’ questions about the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein scandal. While taking questions, he pointed to a group of “hedge fund guys” who were close associates of Epstein and “lived with Jeffrey Epstein,” arguing that they should be the focal point of the press’s scrutiny.
Standing beside Marine One, the presidential helicopter, a reporter asked the president, “What are you hoping Todd Blanche gets out of his meeting with Ghislane Maxwell?” Referring to Epstein’s now-incarcerated associate and the deputy attorney general, President Trump said, “Well, I don’t know about the meeting. I know it’s taking place, and he’s a fantastic man. He’s a great attorney.”
Continuing, the president said that the media should “really focus on how well the country is doing, or they should focus on the fact that Barack Hussein Obama led a coup.” He then pointed the finger at several prominent Democrats, saying, “Or they should focus on the fact that Larry Summers from Harvard, that Bill Clinton—who you know very well—and lots of other friends, really close friends of Jeffrey Epstein, should be spoken about, and they should speak about them. Because they don’t talk about them—they talk about me.”
Next, President Trump asserted that he had “nothing to do with the guy,” referring to Epstein, going on to add, “What I do want to say is that Todd is a great attorney. But you ought to be speaking about Larry Summers. You ought to be speaking about some of his friends that are hedge fund guys. They’re all over the place.”
Furthermore, a reporter asked the president for his response to speculation about a letter bearing his signature and featuring a drawing of a nude woman that was allegedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein for his birthday in 2003. President Trump responded by saying, “I don’t even know what they’re talking about now. Somebody could have written a letter and used my name, but that’s happened a lot.”
Then, the president shifted the conversation back to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, whom he called “a great gentleman,” adding, “He’s a great—a great man. He’s a great lawyer, and he’s got a great heart. But he’s over there now. I don’t know exactly what’s happening, but I certainly can’t talk about it.”

Concluding his time with reporters, the president admonished the press to “focus on Clinton,” adding, “You should focus on the president of Harvard—the former president of Harvard. You should focus on some of the hedge fund guys. I’ll give you a list. These guys lived with Jeffrey Epstein. I sure as hell didn’t.”
