Trump border czar Tom Homan made it clear that ICE will have zero tolerance for the violent protests in Los Angeles, telling Fox News that the National Guard would be deployed to put the chaos to an end, a vow that President Trump made good on hours later when 2,000 members of the Guard arrived in L.A.
For context, a violent anti-ICE riot broke out in Paramount, Los Angeles, California, on June 7, 2025, with press accounts confirming that several people had been seriously injured as a result. In response to the violence, border czar Tom Homan announced that the National Guard was being sent to intervene in a Fox News interview on June 7.
During his appearance on Fox News, Homan decried officials like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who Homan said had crossed “the line” by saying he was going to “dox ICE employees,” adding, “You know, ICE agents [are] out there with the mask on, wearing masks to protect themselves and their families, because they’ve seen other families be doxxed, or [their] life’s been threatened.”
Building on his point, Homan said that he had “over 1000 protestors” gathered at his own home, adding that ICE employees “are putting their lives on the line every day” while dealing with violent backlash, saying, “They arrest a lot of bad people; yesterday and today, they arrested child sex offenders. They arrested people convicted of robbery.”
Next, Homan said that L.A. Mayor Karen Bass “ought to be thanking us for making her city safer,” going on to clarify that the correct term for the individuals apprehended by ICE is not “migrant,” but rather, “illegal aliens.” He added, “These are illegal aliens who committed a crime by crossing this border illegally, then committed another crime again.”
Finally, in a mic-dropping moment, Homan announced that ICE was “stepping up,” adding, “We’re already ahead of the game. We were already mobilizing. We’re going to bring the National Guard in tonight. We’re going to continue doing our job. We’re going to push back on these people, and we’re going to enforce the law.
Moreover, on the same day, the president issued an official memorandum for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth ordering him to dispatch National Guard units “to temporarily protect ICE and other United States Government personnel who are performing Federal functions, including the enforcement of Federal law, and to protect Federal property, at locations where protests against these functions are occurring or are likely to occur based on current threat assessments and planned operations.”

Continuing, President Trump directed “at least 2,000 National Guard personnel” to be stationed in L.A. for “60 days or at the discretion of the Secretary of Defense,” adding, “The Secretary of Defense may employ any other members of the regular Armed Forces as necessary to augment and support the protection of Federal functions and property in any number determined appropriate in his discretion.”
