WATCH: Scottie Scheffler’s Son Steals the Spotlight in Sweet Post-Tournament Moment after Scheffler Scores Huge Major Win

Pro golfer Scottie Scheffler snagged first place in the 2025 PGA Tour, but his adorable one-year-old son Bennett stole the show in a heartwarming moment, joining his dad on the course for a post-victory hug, which got a huge cheer from the crowd.

For background, number-one PGA golfer Scottie Scheffler took home the PGA title on Sunday, July 20, 2025, adding yet another leg to his career grand slam. However, Scheffler made it clear that golf isn’t what brings him true fulfillment in life; after he tapped in for par on the last hole, he saw his wife, Meredith, and 15-month-old son, Bennett, and started celebrating. Bennett toddled onto the green to see his dad, who picked him up after he took a little spill.

Prior to his win, Scottie drew attention at a press conference on July 15, 2025, when he told reporters that he often asks himself, “What’s the point?” when it comes to winning. Scottie made it clear that his family matters more to him than his wins, saying, “I really do believe that, because what is the point? Why do I want to win this tournament so bad? That’s something that I wrestle with on a daily basis.”

Continuing, Scottie said that as a pro, it can feel “like you work your whole life to celebrate winning a tournament for like a few minutes. It only lasts a few minutes, that kind of euphoric feeling.” He added, “This is not a fulfilling life. It’s fulfilling from the sense of accomplishment, but it’s not fulfilling from a sense of the deepest places of your heart.”

Moreover, Scottie told the press that while he loves being a pro golfer, it does not “fill the deepest desires and wants” of his heart. Instead, he said, “I love being a father, I love being able to take care of my son. I love to be able to provide for my family out here playing golf, and every day when I wake up early to go put in the work, my wife thanks me for going out and working so hard.” He added, “And when I get home, I try and thank her every day for taking care of our son.”

Continuing, Scottie called himself “blessed” to be able to play golf, but he clarified, “If my golf ever started affecting my home life or it ever affected the relationship I have with my wife or with my son, that’s gonna be the last day that I play out here for a living.” He drove the point home, saying, “Because I would much rather be a great father than I would be a great golfer.”

After Scottie’s win, Masters champion Rory McIlroy described the golfer to ESPN as “the bar we’re all trying to get to,” adding, “In a historical context, you could argue that there’s only maybe two or three players in the history of the game that have been on a run the one that Scottie’s been on here for the last 24 to 36 months. Incredibly impressive.”

In addition, Xander Schauffele, who tied for seventh in the tour, said of Scottie, “I don’t think we thought the golfing world would see someone as dominant as Tiger come through so soon, and here’s Scottie sort of taking that throne of dominance,” adding, “You can’t even say he’s on a run. He’s just been killing it for over two years now. He’s a tough man to beat, and when you see his name up on the leaderboard, it sucks for us.”
