Things got bizarre when New York Attorney General Letitia James spoke at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network headquarters in Harlem, New York, to promote the mayoral campaign of City Council President Adrienne Adams, as AG James turned to ranting and raving about President Trump supposedly stalking her.
In the wacky and ridiculous incident, which occurred on May 3, AG James ranted that President Trump is sending people to her home in order ot stalk and follow her around the city. Her remarks came just days before the FBI opened an investigation into her for numerous instances of mortgage fraud she is alleged to have committed.
In any case, during the speech before Al Sharpton’s group on May 3, AG James claimed that Trump had sent people to cause a scene outside her house while she was in church and that Trump’s supposed agents streamed it to social media. She said, the New York Post reports, “They got individuals coming to my house, standing outside my house. Last Sunday – church Sunday while I was in church – these individuals were in front of my house, taking pictures and then streaming it, putting it on social media.”
Continuing, she insisted that the whole thing is only occurring because she went after him, ignoring that, of course, lawfare would anger him and that now she is getting in spades what she inflicted upon him. She snapped, the New York Post adds, “This isn’t nothing more than a revenge tour! This is nothing more than vindictiveness! This is nothing more than an individual who is upset at me because we secured a $454 million judgment against him and his family and his company!”
James’s lawyer, Abbe David Lowell, made much the same claims in a statement, saying, as the New York Post also reported, “This appears to be the political retribution President Trump threatened to exact that [U.S. Attorney General Pam] Bondi assured the Senate would not occur on her watch” he said. “If prosecutors are genuinely interested in the truth, we are prepared to meet false claims with facts.”
On the other hands, the alleged instances of mortgage fraud appear to have quite a bit of substance., For example, Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William Pulte alleged that James “consistently misrepresented the same property as only having four units in both building permit applications and numerous mortgage documents and applications,” doing so to get a lower mortgage rate under the federal Home Affordable Modification Program. In reality, the home had five units, which would have disqualified it from the program.
Further, AG James is alleged to have listed a property she purchased in 2023 as her “principal residence” despite the fact that it is in Virginia and she is living in New York for her job as AG and to run for the position, as New York requires its attorneys general to both live in the state for five years before running for office and to reside in it while in office.

Democratic political consultant Hank Shienkopf, commenting to the New York Post on why James is highlighting the matter despite evidence agains her, said, “She’s doing whatever she can to alert people who support her that the future does not look good, and they should be aware, which gins up that audience and gets them excited. It makes them ready to fight, and she’s gonna do whatever she can to beat whatever it is it might be.”
