Speaking during the White House Press conference about the horrific remarks made by woke late-night TV personality Jimmy Kimmel, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt leapt back into action despite being due to give birth any day now to sound off on Kimmel for the horrid things he said about First Lady Melania Trump.
As background, Kimmel has faced much fire for the horrible comments he made about First Lady Melania Trump being an “expectant widow” shortly before President Trump was attacked by yet another would-be assassin during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in DC on Saturday night.
For reference, during the segment at issue, Kimmel pretended that Melania Trump and Barron Trump were in the studio and said, horrifically, “Our first lady is here. Mrs. Trump … you have a glow like an expectant widow.” He has refused to apologize over the joke, or back down from it.
Leavitt sounded off during her press conference. Beginning, she hammered the media for the sort of awful things it has said about President Trump, as much of what the would-be assassin had written was indistinguishable from what the media regularly says, saying, “Much of the Manifesto of the would be assassin is indistinguishable from the words that we hear daily from so many.”
Continuing, she went nuclear on Jimmy Kimmel and what he said about Melania. She declared, “For example, as the First Lady of the United States pointed out this morning, just two days prior to the shooting, ABC’s late-night host Jimmy Kimmel disgustingly called First Lady Melania Trump ‘an expectant widow’.”
Noting just how despicable of a thing to say that was, Leavitt then noted that no one would be “glowing” over the murder of her husband, saying, “Who, in their right mind, says a wife would be glowing over the potential murder of her beloved husband?!” Continuing, she added, “And having experienced what I did with the first lady on Saturday night, I can tell you that she was anything but that.”
Building on that, Leavitt hammered the media for the sorts of things it has said, saying, “This kind of rhetoric about the President, the First Lady and his supporters, is completely deranged, and it’s unbelievable that the American People are consuming it night after night after night, as President Trump said on Saturday night at this podium, we as Americans must recommit ourselves to resolving our differences peacefully and uniting around the shared values that make our country great.”

Concluding she declared that the lies launched against the president have led to this sort of thing getting worse and worse, saying, “The deranged lies and smears against the president, his family, his supporters have led crazy people to believe crazy things, and they are inspired to commit violence because of those words; it has to stop.”

Trump, posting about the matter on Truth Social, said, “Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no way funny as attested to by his terrible Television Ratings, made a statement on his Show that is really shocking. He showed a fake video of the First Lady, Melania, and our son, Barron, like they were actually sitting in his studio, listening to him speak, which they weren’t, and never would be. He then stated, “Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.” A day later a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives.”
He added, “He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason. I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale. Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
