Kamala Harris has recently received criticism following an odd explanation of “cloud storage,” among recent examples of what many describe as her “word salad” manner of public speaking. The recent clip has fueled speculation as to why the vice president has participated in relatively few off-script speaking engagements, where many believe Harris tends to ramble and deviate in her speeches.
In some instances, Harris has been called out for her manner of explaining situations or concepts in a way that seems almost patronizing to the viewer. This was demonstrated when Harris spoke about the digital documentation capabilities of “cloud storage.” The vice president thoroughly elaborated on how much of our modern-day storage is no longer physical.
“So you’re not no longer, are you necessarily keeping those private files in some file cabinet that’s locked in the basement of the house? It’s on your laptop, and it’s then therefore up here in this cloud that exist above us, right? It’s no longer in a physical place,” Harris said.
Harris recently came under fire for her “word salad” commentary, where she spoke with President Biden at a press conference celebrating a prisoner swap with Russia. Harris said, “This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy and strengthening alliances.”
Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, called out the media for promoting Kamala Harris as the presumptive presidential nomination for the Democratic Party without actually pushing her. “It’s amazing that journalists can look themselves in the mirror while letting this person coast to a major party nomination for president. Is anyone going to ask this person a question?” Vance asked.
Harris has also faced criticism of her assessment of inflation, a persistent issue that has plagued American families throughout the Biden-Harris administration. A reporter asked Harris what she would do to address price increases, to which Harris didn’t actually answer the question, but patronizingly explained what inflation is in extremely simple terms.
Harris said, “Well, let’s start with this. Prices have gone up, and families and individuals are dealing with the realities of that bread costs more, the gas costs more, and we have to understand what that means. That’s about the cost of living going up. That’s about having to stress and stretch limited resources. That’s about a source of stress for families that is not only economic, but is on a daily level, something that is a heavyweight to carry.”
Continuing without answering the reporters question, the vice president said, “So it is something that we take very seriously, very seriously. And we know from the history of this issue in the United States that when you see these prices go up, it has a direct impact on the quality of life for all people in our country. So it’s a big issue, and we take it seriously. And it is a priority, therefore.”
