Vice President JD Vance visited hardworking American steelworkers in Canton, Ohio, to discuss the One Big Beautiful Bill, and he took the time to thank the workers for their efforts and take pictures with them, patting each one on the back and appearing to be in no rush at all.

For background, on July 28, 2025, VP JD Vance arrived in Canton, Ohio, to tout the One Big Beautiful Bill’s massive benefits for American industry, speaking directly to a crowd of steelworkers at the Metallus Steel plant and answering questions related to everything from the bill to the Epstein files.

During his appearance, VP Vance told the crowd, “It almost seemed like a week after a factory announced it was going to close its doors, another factory in Mexico or China or somewhere else in the world, that factory was going to open up.” He went on to make his statement even more personal, saying, “Every time they closed a factory in our hometown, another factory opened up in another country, and if you are anything like me, you were asking, “‘Why the hell is this happening?'”

Furthermore, the vice president confirmed that the One Big Beautiful Bill includes increased tariffs on imported steel, declaring, “America is back,” and adding, “We had a generation — and I hate to say it it was in both parties — a generation of failed politicians who rewarded businesses for opening overseas and penalized businesses for building right here in the United States of America.”

Going on to praise the tariffs further, VP Vance said, “You know what that [the tariffs] did? It put the entire world on notice that America was back and if you wanted to build or invest in America, you were going to be rewarded.” In response to the vice president’s statements, Metallus CEO Mike Williams said, “These measures empower companies like ours to invest, grow, and support families across the country.”

In addition, during his visit to the steel plant, VP Vance addressed President Trump’s recent statements regarding files related to Jeffrey Epstein, answering a question by saying, “First of all, the president has been very clear we are not shielding anything,” referring to speculation about a lack of transparency on the files from the Trump Administration.

Continuing, the vice president explained that President Trump has directed the attorney general to release all credible information and, frankly, to go and find additional credible information related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.” He then added, “He’s been incredibly transparent about that stuff, but some of that stuff takes time. He clarified, “The attorney general is hard at work on that issue right now.”

Furthermore, after VP Vance spoke, many of the steelworkers who attended the event reportedly expressed support for the bill. Cody Swanson told Fox 8, “If it makes us grow profitable, more money, let’s do it. Let’s make this country great.”
