In a wild interview with CBS’s Margaret Brennan, the same interview in which she threw a fit over comments made by Stephen Miller, “Squad” Congresswoman Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) lost it over comments made by President Donald Trump about the Somali community in America, going berserk when asked about his comments.
As background, President Trump has been on a tear going after Somali migrants in the past month. For example, in a post following the terror attack on National Guard troopers in DC, the president said, “This refugee burden is the leading cause of social dysfunction in America, something that did not exist after World War II (Failed schools, high crime, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, housing shortages, and large deficits, etc.). As an example, hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia are completely taking over the once great State of Minnesota. Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for “prey” as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments and houses hoping against hope that they will be left alone.”
In another incident, one brought up by Margaret Brennan, the president noted that the Somali migrants complain a great deal despite being hosted by America, much to our expense, declaring as he did so that they need to be deported instead of just allowed to hang around the country, complaining as they rely on welfare.
Brennan, introducing the subject, told Rep. Omar, “So there are 80,000 people of Somali descent in your state. But the president has been very focused not just on them, but on you. In this extraordinary cabinet meeting, he said, Somalis, quote, ‘Come from hell. They complain, and they do nothing but b*tch.’ Take a listen.”
That then led to Brennan rolling a video of President Trump, during a Cabinet meeting, skewering the Somali migrants by saying, “These are people that do nothing but complain and complain. And from where they came from, they got nothing. We don’t want them in our country. Let them go back to where they came from and fix it. Thank you very much.”
After the clip ended, Brennan followed up on it by asking the Squad congresswoman what her reaction is to seeing the president go nuclear on Somalis, asking, “That knocking is vehement agreement from his cabinet members there. I just wonder what the reaction is in your district to have that from the highest office in the land?”
As could be expected, Omar totally lost it in response. Beginning, she clutched her pearls about the language used by the president, insisting that the Somali migrants are “Americans” and so insulting them is “disgusting.” She said, “It’s disgusting. It’s completely disgusting. These are Americans that he is calling garbage.”

Continuing, she decided to focus on herself for a minute and insisted that Trump’s criticism is coming from the place of his having a “creepy obsession” with her, ignoring that she has made herself a central figure on the far left, which is the basis of the criticism of her. She said, “And we feel like there is an unhealthy obsession that he has on the Somali community, and an unhealthy and creepy obsession that he has with me.”
Concluding her screed against the president, Rep. Omar insisted that the rhetoric used by Trump and others is “dehumanizing”, saying, “I think it is also really important for us to remember that this kind of hateful rhetoric and this level of dehumanizing can lead to dangerous actions by people who listen to the president.”
