In a shocking exchange, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) embarrassed herself and her fellow Democratic politicians when she had an unhinged meltdown on camera, using the F-word multiple times and telling off a reporter who asked her a basic question about her party’s recent actions related to the now-deported illegal immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
For context, in a clip shared by The Daily Caller on X, reporter Miles Morell approached Rep. Omar and asked her if she believed more Democrats should travel to El Salvador after Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and several others previously traveled to meet Albrego Garcia there. In response, Rep. Omar said, “I think you should f— off.”
In response, Morrell asked the representative for clarification, and she replied by once again saying, “You should f— off.” In response, conservatives criticized Rep. Omar’s bombastic behavior in the comments section on X, with the user Karen Thomas writing, “so RUDE!!!” and another commenter chiming in, “Absolutely disgusting, this is not what taxpayers pay her for…a complete violation of code of conduct for a supposed representative of the people. She needs to be fired ASAP.”
Prior to making the news for swearing at reporters, Rep. Omar has attracted controversy due to allegations that she married her brother to skirt immigration laws. However, in June 2019, Omar’s spokesman Jeremy Slevin issued a statement denying the claims, saying, “Since before she was elected to office, Ilhan has been the subject of conspiracy theories and false accusations about her personal life.”
Continuing his statement, Slevin decried those who have speculated about Ilhan’s marital history, saying, “Whether by colluding with right-wing outlets to go after Muslim elected officials or hounding family members, legitimate media outlets have a responsibility not to fan the flames of hate. Continuing to do so is not only demeaning to Ilhan, but to her entire family.”
Furthermore, on October 7, 2019, it was announced that Rep. Omar was filing for divorce from Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi, who press accounts confirmed was the father of Omar’s children. Following the divorce, Omar’s attorney, Jaime Driggs, made a statement that called attention back to the rumors about her relationship with Hirsi, saying, “As with all marriages, this is intensely personal and a difficult time for their family. For years, Ilhan and Ahmed have been the object of speculation and innuendo from political opponents and the media.”
More recently, Rep. Omar released a statement that fiercely criticized President Trump for an executive order that moved to suspend all refugee movement and USRAP case processing. In a press release from January 22, 2025, Rep. Omar called the signing of the order “an inhumane decision” and added that it was a “disastrous decision.”

Concluding her statement on the executive order, Rep. Omar said, “This order not only flies in the face of basic morality but also goes directly against our values. For the sake of millions of children yearning for a better tomorrow, I hope the Administration changes course.”
