GOP Senator Jon Husted went on Fox News to reveal the incredible benefits of passing President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” including major reforms to Medicaid, zeroing in on the way the bill will stop illegal immigrants from exploiting benefits that are reserved for U.S. citizens.
For context, Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) appeared on Fox News on June 29, 2025, to discuss the “One Big Beautiful Bill” and explained the way the massive piece of legislation will bring about “historic spending reforms” that will stop illegal immigrants, along with exploitative citizens, from using and abusing Medicaid benefits.
Importantly, Sen. Husted’s appearance on Fox News came at a time when Senate Democrats had forced a reading of the entire 940-page piece of legislation on the floor, a move that was initially brought about by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who railed against the bill as an apparent publicity stunt.
During his Fox News appearance, Sen. Husted explained that the “One Big Beautiful Bill” includes “historic spending reforms,” saying, “We’re going to see spending that will be reduced by around $1.5 trillion that would have otherwise gone on the books for additional debt.”
Continuing, the senator explained that the reforms would affect “things like Medicaid,” adding, “If you’re a healthy adult who doesn’t have young children and you’re receiving these generous tax benefits, well, you know what? You’re gonna have to work for those benefits.” He added, “Illegals who are here taking Medicaid: you’re not gonna get those benefits anymore. All of those things help reduce costs for the long run, help reduce the deficit.”
According to press accounts, Sen. Husted appeared on Fox News as the Senate undertook a forced reading of the entirety of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a move that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced on X by saying, “I will object to Republicans moving forward on their Big, Ugly Bill without reading it on the Senate floor.”
Continuing, the aging senator said, “Republicans won’t tell America what’s in the bill. So Democrats are forcing it to be read start to finish on the floor. We will be here all night if that’s what it takes to read it.” In a subsequent message, he essentially repeated himself, saying, “I just objected to the Republicans moving forward on their Big, Ugly Bill without reading it on the Senate floor.”

On the same day that Sen. Husted appeared on Fox News, the White House released a “Myth vs. Fact” press release on the Big Beautiful Bill, addressing the myth that the bill “kicks American families off Medicaid.” The White House stated, “As the President has said numerous times, there will be no cuts to Medicaid. The One Big Beautiful Bill protects and strengthens Medicaid for those who rely on it—pregnant women, children, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families—while eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse.”
