In an embarrassing viral clip, leftist representatives made fools of themselves by disrupting proceedings in the House chamber during the vote to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), with former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy getting interrupted constantly by screaming Democrats.
For context, the House of Representatives erupted into chaos on June 21, 2023, when it passed a censure resolution against Rep. Adam Schiff by a vote of 213 Republicans to 209 Democrats. The censuring of Rep. Schiff occurred on the basis of the liberal representatives’ comments during investigations into the Trump Administration’s ties to Russia, with the censure resolution criticizing Schiff for disseminating misleading information about President Trump.
The disorder on the House floor started after Democratic representatives began chanting as Rep. Schiff moved towards the well. The crowd shouted, “Shame! Shame!” as Speaker McCarthy attempted to bring order back to the room, at one point saying, “I have all night,” to the crowd of unhinged representatives.
Moving on, Speaker McCarthy called the vote to censure Rep. Schiff, to which Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) reportedly said, “It’s pathetic you’re doing this. Pathetic.” In addition, Multiple Democrats could be heard saying, “What about Santos?” In response, someone in the room yelled, “Jacka—-!”
Pushing through the interruptions, Speaker McCarthy began, “For misleading the American public…” before being cut off by a cacophony of jeers and boos from the Democrats in the room. McCarthy continued, “And for conduct unbecoming of an elected member of the House of Representatives, the Representative Adam Schiff will be forthwith to present himself in the well of the House of Representatives for the pronouncement of censure.”
After McCarthy’s initial statement, more boos and screaming erupted from the crowd, prompting Alex Sheppard to ask on X, “Is this not Obstruction of an Official Proceeding?” Attempting to move forward, Speaker McCarthy told the room that the House’s Committee on Ethics “shall conduct an investigation into Representative Adam Schiff’s falsehoods, misrepresentations, and abuse of sensitive information.”
In response to the chaos, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) spoke out, describing the censuring of Rep. Schiff as “a clear vote between right and wrong.” She continued, “This is not a partisan act. This is not a conservative-versus-liberal vote. This is a clear vote between right and wrong, and I urge you to do the right thing.”

Continuing, Rep. Luna described voting against the censure as “run[ning] away from this opportunity to hold this man accountable,” continuing to say that it would “betray the people who trusted us and sent us here [to Congress] to do the right thing.”
