WATCH: Congressman Calls for $300 Million Fine against Letitia James

In a very entertaining way of calling for New York Attorney General Letitia James to get exactly what she has coming, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) called for NY AG James to be hit with a $300 million fine for the mortgage fraud she so obviously committed, if convicted, as a way of visiting on her the same weaponization of the legal system she used against President Trump.

As background, NY AG James led the charge in convicting then-former President Trump for what she claimed was felonious overstatement of the value of his assets when asking a bank for a loan he repaid in full, and thanks to Judge Juan Merchan, was able to hit him with a fine that, with interest included, was over $400 million.

Now, however, that has been put on hold by the appeals process and Trump’s presidential victory, and it is James who is facing fire now that the FBI is investigating her for what appear to be numerous cases of very serious mortgage fraud, with the NY AG having apparently lied about everything from the status of a five-unit apartment building she purchased to claiming her father was her husband.

It was with all that in the background that Rep. Jordan said, when speaking to conservative commentator Benny Johnson, that NY AG James should face the same punishment she visited on Trump, a $300 million fine plus interest, if and when she is convicted of mortgage fraud.

Kicking the conversation off, Johnson asked Rep. Jordan for his general take on the situation, namely the FBI’s decision to investigate the NY AG who vowed to “get Trump” when running for office. He asked, “Letitia James officially being charged by the FBI. Your take on this? The table is yours.”

Responding, Rep. Jordan pointed out the absurdity of the situation given that she went after Trump for much the same thing. He said, “Well, yeah, you can’t make this stuff up. I mean, she is being charged with the same thing, as you said, that she alleged President Trump did.”

Continuing, Rep. Jordan called for her to face the same punishment she inflicted on Trump, saying, “I think, I think that there was, like, a huge fine that was imposed on the president. I think was like 300 million if I, if I remember correctly, and it looks like the underlying issue that she’s being charged with is what we got from, I think, the Finance Board, or whether this this agency, they said that she she falsified documents.”

Jordan then focused on the obviousness and absurdity of the alleged fraud, stating, “She did so to get better terms and better rate on the loan she was applying for. Here’s the bottom line, though, Benny, you can’t say your principal residence is in Virginia. If you’re the Attorney General of New York, it just doesn’t work that way. But that’s what’s alleged that she did, not to mention, I think, on another loan application, she said her father was her husband. Again, I haven’t seen the evidence, but there, obviously, there must be something there. The Justice Department wouldn’t be proceeding as they are. Again, it’s, it’s the old principle the left always accuses us of what they’re doing. And that’s what it looks like. Is happening. Happened here with the Attorney General from New York.”

Benny then asked Jordan what should happen to James if she is found guilty on the mortgage fraud charges, saying, “What should happen to the Attorney General? I mean, you are in very interesting waters here, if [she is] found guilty on this. These are federal crimes. What should happen to Letitia James?”

Jordan, in response, called for her to get hit with the massive fine she imposed on Trump, saying, “Well, maybe, how about, how about a fine of this, $300 million like that was levied against President Trump. I mean, I don’t know. I don’t know what the statute actually says. I don’t know if it’s if it’s if there’s really strong evidence here. There must be or the good folks at the Justice Department under Attorney General Bondi and Todd Blanche and Kash Patel at the FBI, there must be something here.”
