Biden embarrassed himself yet again, speaking incoherently to reporters while attempting to defend himself from the recent allegations that his declining health had been covered up by Democrats for years, going on to say that he could beat up Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, the authors who exposed the coverup of his mental and physical decline.
For context, Biden had a humiliating first public appearance after his cancer diagnosis on May 30, 2025, speaking to journalists about his prognosis, treatment, and the recent revelation that his failing health was covered up by his fellow Democrats. During the interview, Biden made multiple bizarre comments, including saying that he “can’t walk” and is “mentally incompetent,” along with threatening to “beat the h-ll” out of the authors of the recent book about his declining health.
While talking to reporters, Biden began by answering a question about his cancer prognosis, describing it as “good” before going on to say that his current treatment regimen consisted of “taking a pill, one particular pill for the next six weeks, and then another one. The expectation is we’re going to be able to beat this. There’s, no, it’s not in any organ.” He added, “It’s, my bones are strong. I haven’t penetrated, so I’m feeling good.”
Next, growing more incoherent, Biden got uncomfortably close to a female journalist, who smiled nervously as the former president said, “I’ve done it all because I’m loyal. I do it every d-mn year. The very beginning, you never forget where I came from.” After this, another journalist described Biden as “speaking powerfully,” adding, “you look good, and you’re confident.”
Then, a journalist brought up the death of Biden’s son, Bo, and asked how the Biden family was handling Joe’s cancer diagnosis, saying, “Obviously, this is also an emotional time. This is the 10-year anniversary of your son, Bo’s, passing. You received this diagnosis just two weeks before that.” Biden dodged the question, saying, “Well, we’re all optimistic about the diagnosis.”
After this, another journalist asked Biden if he wanted to reply to the discussion about his “mental and physical capabilities” while he was in office, to which the former president said, “You can see that I’m mentally incompetent and I can’t walk,” attempting to make a sarcastic quip. Then, referring to authors Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, Biden said, “And I can beat the hell out of both of them.”
Attempting to get a more serious response from Biden, the same journalist asked, “Do you want to reply to any of these reports, and also to the fact that there are some Democrats who are now questioning whether you should have run for re-election in the first place?” Biden, slurring his words, retorted, “Why didn’t they run against me, then?”

Near the conclusion of the interview, Biden got in the face of another female journalist and said that he had “no regrets,” adding, “Look, there’s…we have a…there’s a lot going on. And I think we’re in a really difficult moment.” He went on to claim that “12…the 10…they…historians rated me pretty good, up on the list [of the best presidents], and the guy I ran against, I rated him the last, so we’ll see.”
Making the incident all the more awkward is that CNN, as Biden made his wild rambles about being mentally unstable, cut away from him. Noting as much, conservative X commentator Collin Rugg said, “CNN cuts away as Joe Biden says he’s *not* mentally unstable, suggests he would have won the election, and says he could “beat the hell” out of Jake Tapper.”
