Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced in a recent press conference that a thug named La’Darion Chandler was just arrested and charged with the killing of 33-year-old John McGee on Dec. 17, 2022.
Sheriff Judd commented on the situation: “Our crime is at a 51-year low, and our violent crime was down last year — shootings like this one don’t represent what’s going on all over Polk County. But there is a problem with very young gangsters shooting at each other – a problem that we aim to solve. The suspects in shootings like this one aren’t even supposed to have guns.”
In addition to being a “very young” gangster, La’Darion was also an “aspiring rapper” who rapped about a murder that near-exactly matched the circumstances in which Mr. McGee was murdered, saying “N**** tried to run / I hit his back / Though I shoot like a mac / Dirt a** dead n***** knowing where to find me at.”
Sheriff Judd commented on those lyrics and La’Darion, saying “He’s not much of a rapper. My rapper expert says he doesn’t sing well. He doesn’t move well. He’s just a terrible rapper. But, he’s a stupid rapper. He not only makes a rap video about shooting somebody, but he also admits to shooting the guy in the back. ‘I’m a coward rapper, that’s what I am. If you don’t believe me, watch me shoot the guy in the back.’”
CBS 12 News reported on the situation and why La’Darion shot McGee as well, saying:
Investigators said McGee “was mean mugging” the other gang members when he was shot in the back. While at the hospital, McGee refused to take the medicine he needed to help his body heal. He also refused to cooperate with investigators.
Sheriff Grady Judd said investigators believed McGee wanted to get revenge on his own and take care of the person who shot him. But he never made it out of the hospital. McGee died from his injuries 24 days later.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd has given many an excellent press statement following a successful operation in his county. He, speaking on the matter of an operation in which dozens of sex criminals and human traffickers, including two Disney employees, were arrested, said:
“The online prostitution industry enables traffickers and allows for the continued victimization of those who are being trafficked. Our goal is to identify victims, offer them help, and arrest those who are fueling the exploitation of human beings (Johns) and those profiting from the exploitation of human beings. Prostitution is not a victimless crime – it results in exploitation, disease, dysfunction, drug and alcohol addiction, violence, and broken families.”
His office released a statement on that operation as well, saying:
160 people were arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit during a seven-day undercover human trafficking operation, “Fall Haul 2,” which began on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. PCSO was assisted in the effort by police departments from Winter Haven, Haines City, Lake Wales, Davenport, and Bartow, as well as the Office of the State Attorney 10th Judicial Circuit, State Attorney Brian Haas, members from the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), and social services organizations: One More Child, Heartland for Children, My Name My Voice, Selah Freedom, and the Children’s Home Society of Florida who provide on-site services to identified or potential trafficking victims.
Those who travelled to provide prostitution services were screened by detectives and the social services organizations to determine if they were being trafficked or exploited by others.
Two trafficking victims, and another five possible victims, were identified. All prostitutes taken into custody were offered services by the social services organizations at the operation. Follow up will be conducted with those who are suspected to be sex-trafficked or exploited.
