In a show of force that dismayed the left and drew cheers from the right, President Trump has signed executive orders directing the DOJ to investigate two former presidential aides, Christopher Krebs, a cybersecurity official, and Miles Taylor, a former Homeland Security official, both of whom were accused of attempted subversion during President Trump’s first term.
For context, President Trump has said that Miles Taylor is under suspicion of publishing classified information in an anonymous op-ed that was published in 2018 while Mr. Taylor was still actively working inside the first Trump Administration. Meanwhile, President Trump has targeted Krebs after the cybersecurity official described the 2020 presidential election as being free of fraud.
Predictably, the orders have sent the woke left into a berserk meltdown. For example, in a segment from PBS News Hour that aired on April 10, 2025, host Amna Nawaz accused President Trump of seeking revenge against former officials who disagreed with him, telling viewers that Trump was “escalating his retribution campaign” and adding, “The president accused Taylor, without evidence, of treason.”
Continuing, Nawaz went on to consult a PBS White House correspondent, Laura Barron-Lopez, who gave a flawed and biased account of the nature of President Trump’s executive orders. Barron-Lopez told Nawaz, “Trump’s executive order specifically targets Chris Krebs for telling the truth about the 2020 election.”
Still not done with the wild rant, Barron-Lopez attempted to explain the reasons behind President Trump’s ire towards Mr. Taylor. She continued, “When it comes to Miles Taylor, the president says that he disclosed sensitive information and claims that Taylor potentially published classified information.”
In contrast, President Trump’s explanation of the executive orders was also broadcast on PBS News Hour and tells another story about Krebs. President Trump explained, “This guy Krebs was saying, oh, the election was great. It was great. That was a very corrupt election.”
Additionally, President Trump provided the press with more background about his issue with Miles Taylor and the reasoning behind revoking the former Homeland Security Official’s security clearance. In a series of comments broadcast by Fox News, President Trump told reporters, “[Taylor] wrote a book…it was a work of fiction; got a lot of publicity, and got him a nice job with CNN, or one of them, and I think we have to do something about it.”

Responding to the Fox News clip posted on X, conservatives showed their support for President Trump and his resilience in the face of attempted subversion. One user with the handle Ivy Malise noted that Taylor and Krebs are just a few of the corrupt government officials who are rightful targets for President Trump’s fury, adding, “There’s (sic) lots of people guilty of treason who need to go to trial.”
