A groundbreaking agreement between the Uzbek government and the United States led to the deportation of a group of Central Asian illegal immigrants from the U.S. to Uzbekistan using what the Trump Administration has described as the blueprint for their plans to engage with other nations on the issue of immigration.
For context, on April 30, 2025, the Department of Homeland Security issued a press release that confirmed that over 100 illegal aliens from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan were headed to Uzbekistan on a plane. In addition, the press release confirmed that the operation was fully funded by the Uzbek government, which collaborated fully with the U.S. to orchestrate the deportations.
In the press release, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem expressed her gratitude to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for setting the operation in motion, saying, “We commend Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his leadership in sending a flight to return 131 illegal aliens back to their home country.”
Continuing, Secretary Noem confirmed that DHS intends to keep collaborating with Uzbekistan for the mutual benefit of the Uzbek government and the U.S. Noem said, “We look forward to continuing to work together with Uzbekistan on efforts to enhance our mutual security and uphold the rule of law.”
In addition, a DHS spokesperson explained that the operation “underscores the deep security cooperation between our nations and sets a standard for U.S. alliances.” They later added, “This landmark partnership is the latest in a long line of successful deals with foreign partners negotiated by President Trump and his administration.”
Furthermore, the DHS spokesperson described President Trump as “putting the American people first,” referring to similar deals that the president arranged with Colombia, Mexico, and El Salvador. The spokesperson explained that President Trump ” successfully convinced Colombia to begin accepting migrants removed from the United States, developed a strong working partnership with El Salvador to lock up criminal illegal aliens and gang members, and turned Mexico into a willing ally in the fight against drug cartels, leading to the arrest of over 6,000 drug traffickers — the highest number of arrests in Mexico’s history.”
In addition to the new arrangement with Uzbekistan, President Trump negotiated a deportation agreement with the aforementioned country of Colombia back in January 2025, according to press accounts. Regarding that deal, President Trump described the deportation of illegal immigrants back to Colombia as “just the beginning.” He then added, “We will not allow the Colombian Government to violate its legal obligations with regard to the acceptance and return of the Criminals they forced into the United States.”

In addition, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the “Government of Colombia has agreed to all of President Trump’s terms, including the unrestricted acceptance of all illegal aliens from Colombia returned from the United States, including on U.S. military aircraft, without limitation or delay.”
