In an overwhelming victory for conservatives, a recent poll revealed that the majority of Americans side with President Trump on deporting migrant criminals, with only a small fraction of U.S. citizens saying that the migrant crime situation is not important to them, signalling greater support than ever of Trump Administration’s stern stance on the issue.
For context, a poll published by Rasmussen Reports on April 21, 2025, provided detailed insight into Americans’ current sentiments towards the Trump Administration’s vow to deport migrant criminals, with the results indicating that a diverse bloc of Americans believe it is very important to deport those guilty of illegally entering the U.S. and committing crimes.
The results of the poll revealed that 79% of Americans who are likely to vote believe it is “important that illegal immigrants who commit crimes in America should be deported, including 56% who consider it very important.” Commenting on the minority group of survey-takers, the report added, “Only 17% don’t think it’s important.”
Furthermore, poll data showed that a majority of Hispanic and black voters described it as “very important” that illegal immigrant criminals be deported by the Trump Administration, along with one-third of survey-takers who described themselves as liberals.
In addition, the second question on the poll asked voters for a response to a statement that El Salvador’s President Bukele made to President Donald Trump during the two’s Oval Office meeting: “Mr. President, you have 350 million people to liberate. You cannot just, you know, free the criminals and think crime is going to go down magically, you have to imprison them [criminals] so you can liberate 350 million Americans that are asking for the end of crime and the end of terrorism, and it can be done.”
In response, 43% of survey-takers responded that they “strongly agreed” with President Bukele’s statement, while only 9% responded saying that they “strongly disagreed” with the El Salvadorian president, including only 24% of survey-takers who self-identified as liberal.
The results of the poll, which come at a time when President Trump is, according to press accounts, working harder than ever to improve on the Biden Administration’s sordid legacy of neglecting the problem of migrant crime. In a recent Truth Social post, President Trump explained his rationale further, saying, “How can Biden let millions of criminals into our country, totally unchecked and unvetted, with no legal authority to do so, yet I, in order to make up for this assault to our nation, am expected to go through a lengthy legal process, separately, for each and every criminal alien.”

In the same post, President Trump commented on the amount of effort that would go into individual trials for illegal immigrants, writing, “We cannot give everyone a trial, because to do so would take, without exaggeration, 200 years. We would need hundreds of thousands of trials for the hundreds of thousands of illegals we are sending out of the country. Such a thing is not possible to do.”
