Other than holding up bills that would protect women in Minnesota, what is Minnesota Governor and failed 2024 Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz doing in the wake of the massive rebuke handed to him and Kamala by voters in November? Considering another, likely to be equally disastrous presidential run, apparently.
Those comments came during an interview that Governor Walz did with the New Yorker. That interview was released on Sunday, March 2, and consisted of Walz first demurring and then saying he would run for president if presented with the opportunity, leading to a great deal of mockery online, particularly on X (formerly Twitter).
When asked by the New Yorker what he would do if offered an opportunity to run for the presidency for the Democratic Party, failed VP candidate Walz said that he has been told not to turn down opportunities that he is offered,c “Well, I had a friend tell me, ‘Never turn down a job you haven’t been offered.’”
Continuing, he then tried to demur a bit and say that he would only run if he thought he could offer something by doing so. He said, “If I think I could offer something … I would certainly consider that. I’m also, though, not arrogant enough to believe there’s a lot of people that can do this.” But, he added, if he thinks he has the right “skill set” for the 2028 race and the conditions are otherwise right, “I’ll do it.”
Pressing him on that, the New Yorker asked, “You might do it?” Responding, Walz told the outlet that he would do what is necessary, but doesn’t think he’s the only one who could run and win in the 2028 election. He said, “I’ll do whatever it takes. I certainly wouldn’t be arrogant enough to think that it needs to be me.”
He then added, “I’ve always said this: I didn’t prepare my life to be in these jobs, but my life prepared me well. And, if this experience I’ve had and what we’re going through right now prepares me for that, then I would. But I worry about people who have ambition for elected office. I don’t think you should have ambition. I think you should have a desire to do it if you’re asked to serve. And that’s kind of where I’m at.”
Predictably, Walz got utterly roasted for that online. Commenters on articles and posts about the idea left denigrating messages directed his way, such as “Ah, good ole Tampon Tim. 😅🤣😅🤣” and “I definitely think the Dems should run Tim Walz! He’s so ready to run 🤡🤡🤡🤡” Another joked, “YES. WALZ FOR DNC NOMINEE ON 2028. Let’s get behind that plan. His VP could be AOC.”

Yet another joked that either rerunning Kamala or running “Tampon Tim” would be a great thing for Democrats to do as they would lose again, saying, “Please, democrats, please … I beg of you: please run Tampon Tim Walz for President in 2028! I don’t ask for much, but I ask for this. Or maybe Cacklin’ Commie Kamala. Either one works. #KeepLosing”
On much the same note, yet another poster said that Republicans would have an easy win in 2024 if the Democrats decided to run Tim Walz, as he is a buffoon. That poster said, “Tim Walz is considering running for President in 2028. I hope the Dems run this idiot. EASY W for the Republicans! 🤡”
