Damar Hamlin’s story ruled the final parts of the NFL season and the early portion of the playoffs. Now, with more strength and health since the injury, Hamlin was honored at NFL award shows and made an appearance at the Super Bowl to honor the medical personnel that helped save his life.
For those who missed the Damar Hamlin Sage, here is a brief summary of the initial injury:
“The Buffalo Bills played the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football, in a game that will not soon be forgotten. After Damar Hamlin made a tackle midway through the first quarter, the 24-year-old Bills safety suffered a cardiac arrest.
On the field, medical personnel performed CPR to restart Hamlin’s heart, as his teammates and opposing players alike looked on. At 1:48 this morning, the Buffalo Bills issued a statement on Hamlin’s condition.
“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in the Buffalo Bills’ game versus the Cincinnati Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”
Following that, the game was canceled and updates on Damar’s condition ruled the press conference room of the Buffalo Bills.
Now, a month removed from the situation, many fans were heavily anticipating this return to center stage for the NFL player. While most fans were thrilled to see Hamlin out and moving under his own power again, a former star running back of the Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson was less than pleased with the jacket that Hamlin chose to adorn himself with. Peterson said this in a post on Instagram, according to Fox News:
“You should be thanking God son! This is Blasphemy!! We all fall short but cmon man! I find this disrespectful!!”
Peterson added:
“But this was different! I know young people don’t think at times, older as well! But with everything surrounding his situation!! This isn’t one of those moments where it’s a young guy not thinking!”

Here’s a better view of Damar Hamlin’s blasphemous jacket.
Our prayers might have saved his life, but apparently not his soul. pic.twitter.com/Xdz1D8IoSo

The jacket was an extravagant one, depicting Jesus in multiple places and costing a pretty penny. Fox News described the jacket as the following:
“Hamlin wore a letterman-style jacket with an apparent image of Jesus Christ on his left breast and a message on his right side, which read, “Without end or beginning there is no day and there is no night.” On the back of the jacket, it read “Eternal” with Jesus on the cross.
Takashi Murakami was the designer of the outfit and the jacket’s cost is $3,150, according to TMZ Sports.”
Aside from Peterson’s comment, Hamlin seemed to have a great week at the Super Bowl. While giving a speech at the NFL awards show, he thanked fans and teammates everyone else involved with his career for their continued support which has clearly meant a lot to the young man. Even though there was a detractor of the jacket, the level of support that Hamlin received in the past month and a half has been unlike any other athlete in recent history.
I was going to make a video about #DamarHamlin jacket being blasphemous and disrespectful towards the millions of Christians that prayed for him to recover but then God said, "Who told you to stop praying?"
