The debate between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden that occurred on Thursday, June 27, was such a disaster for President Joe Biden, highlighting as it did to many Americans the poor cognitive health of the president, led to numerous GOP politicians sounding off on the state of the Biden Administration in the aftermath.
Among those who commented on the matter was Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, who spoke about the issue on the Mobile, Alabama, radio show FM Talk 106.5. He said, speaking about the debate, that it went as badly as it could have gone for the elderly president, saying, “You never knew how bad it was going to be, but it couldn’t have been worse for Joe Biden.”
Continuing, Sen. Tuberville took the opportunity to start explaining who he thinks is actually running the country under “puppet” President Joe Biden. He said, “But, you know, the big loser last night, Jeff, was the American people. American people have finally found out what’s been going on for the last three-and-a-half, four years. Somebody behind the scenes like the Obamas, the Clintons, Schumer and Pelosi, they’re running our country and Joe Biden has been a puppet president. He’s the same as he’s been. He’s gotten a little bit worse, but it was a disaster.”
Sen. Tuberville added that he thinks Trump did a good job letting President Biden destroy himself with his frequent slip-ups and gaffes during the debate, saying, “President Trump did a good job of pretty much using facial expressions and staying out of the way. The rules kind of helped him in terms of not being able to interrupt.”
Then, Sen. Tuberville returned to the issue of who is really running the country under Biden, saying, “But it’s a sad state of affairs. I don’t know what direction the Democrats will go right now, but they’re in panic mode, and the American people just need to understand the deep state is running this country. And they’re going to continue to do it if the Democratic Party and the RINOs of this country keep electing them.”
Also speaking out in the wake of the debate was Rep. Chip Roy, who introduced a resolution on Friday, the day after the debate, “calling on Vice President Kamala D. Harris to convene and mobilize the principal officers of the executive departments of the Cabinet to activate section 4 of the 25th Amendment to declare President Joseph R. Biden incapable of executing the duties of his office and to immediately exercise powers as Acting President.”
Roy’s resolution claims that Biden “has repeatedly and publicly demonstrated his inability to discharge the powers and duties of the Presidency, including, among others, the powers and duties of the Commander-in-Chief.” That accusation is important because Section 4 of the 25th Amendment provides, “Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”
