“She Should Resign”: Outrage Grows after Radical Purple State Democrat Posts Call for Trump to Be Beheaded, Doesn’t Resign

In a shocking display of leftist hypocrisy, a North Carolina state representative shared an inflammatory social media post that called for President Trump to be beheaded, leading the state’s conservative lawmakers to call for her resignation — a request that was met with no response.

For context, on June 14, 2025, North Carolina State Rep. Julie von Haefen posted a photo from the “No Kings” protest in Raleigh that prominently featured a woman holding I sign that read: “In These Difficult Times, Some Cuts May Be Necessary” and was emblazoned with a picture of a guillotine. In response, conservatives were outraged online and called for her immediate resignation.

Rep. von Haefen’s post went ultra-viral after it was shared by the popular Libs of TikTok X account, which called the representative’s behavior “sick.” In a post that got nearly 12 million views, the account shared a screenshot of Rep. von Haefen’s post, which read, “No Kings Protest in Raleigh 👑 Amazing turnout all across the Triangle today, including this event at the Capitol hosted by @wakedems and @ncdemocrats.”

Furthermore, on June 17, the North Carolina Republican Party issued a press release calling for Rep. von Haefen to resign due to her “shocking social media post indicating support for the assassination of President Donald Trump.” The press release went on to say that Rep. von Haefen’s decision to post the photos “hours after two Minnesota state representatives were targeted in assassinations, with one of the victims being fatally shot, is shocking.”

Moreover, in a statement shared in the NCGOP press release, party Chairman Jason Simmons condemned Rep. von Haefen’s behavior, saying, “The posts Rep. von Haefen shared do not show the judgment or temperament of someone to hold public office.” He added, “For the good of her constituents to have effective representation, she should resign.”

In addition, NC House Speaker Destin Hall also fiercely condemned Rep. von Haefen, also pointing out the horrible timing of her post. Speaker Hall wrote on X, “On the same weekend that a gunman in Minnesota targeted state lawmakers in an act of political violence, and after two attempted assassinations of President Trump within the past year, Representative von Haefen (D-Wake) shared an image of a “protest sign” that glorifies violence against her political opponents-including President Donald Trump.”

Continuing, Speaker Hall said that Rep. von Haefen’s behavior was “disgraceful” and failed “to meet the standards expected from House members and sets a dangerous precedent in an already volatile political climate.” He concluded, “I am examining next steps with our legislative attorneys to ensure this behavior does not continue.”

Importantly, State Rep. von Haefen reportedly did not respond to Republican lawmakers’ calls for her resignation. A subsequent press release from the NCGOP described the Democrats as “silent” on the issue, adding that the lawmaker “deleted her X account in response to widespread outrage.” The NCGOP noted that the only “notable Democrat” who commented was Apex, North Carolina, Mayor Jacques Gilbert, who said, “I do not condone this.”
