Sen. Sherrod Brown Set to Skip DNC, Refuses to Campaign for Kamala Harris

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) recently said he would skip the Democratic National Convention (DNC).  The democratic senator also asserted that he would not campaign with Kamala Harris in her bid for the presidency.  Brown’s comments follow Ohio’s trending in support of former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

Furthermore, reports indicate that Brown is shying away from defending the Biden-Harris administration’s record on commonly cited failures, such as the southern border.  Instead, the senator has suggested he will focus on the local interest of his Ohio constituents.  “It’s not left or right. It’s not who you vote for, for president,” Brown said. “It’s who stands up for people in the state.”

Moreover, Brown suggested that he will stick to his “own schedule” and focus on defeating his Republican challenger, Bernie Moreno.  “I’ve got my own schedule,” Brown said. “She’s got her own schedule. I will focus on my race. My strategy is perhaps different from hers … talking about the differences on abortion rights and on the minimum wage between Bernie Moreno and me and how I fight every day for the dignity of work.”

The Democrat further claimed that he often decides not to attend conventions.  “I often skip conventions,” he continued.  “My job is to fight for Ohio workers. You can talk about the presidential race. That’s your job. … I know that what will matter is people vote for me because I stand up for workers and will continue to fight for workers.”

However, a Moreno spokesperson called out Brown, criticizing him for consistently supporting the Biden-Harris administration.  “Sherrod Brown votes with Biden and Harris nearly 100% of the time for open borders, a plummeting economy and a war on American energy, and that record is toxic in Ohio,” Moreno spokesperson Reagan McCarthy said. “In the toughest reelection of his 50-year political career, Sherrod is running scared of his record of voting with this disastrous administration.”

Following Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race, there has been enhanced scrutiny of Kamala Harris and her agenda, given the prospect that she could lead the nation. The American Tribune recently reported on comments from Fox News Channel contributor Judge Jeanine Pirro, who blasted the Biden-Harris administration.

“Well, look, what Kamala Harris is known for and should be known for when she runs for president, having today apparently gotten the official nod from the delegates, is the fact that she has destroyed the United States as a nation-state,” she said, speaking about the southern border.  “We no longer have a border. We are no longer a sovereign nation. Everyone is allowed to come here, and they are not only allowed to come here when they commit crimes, they’re not being deported.”

Pirro further claimed that illegal immigrants who commit crimes are protected by liberal sanctuary cities.  “They are being protected in sanctuary cities, which she is in favor of, and I agree with you, Sean, they have — this Biden-Harris administration has blood on their hands. They haven’t vetted these people. They don’t have the ability to vet them,” she said.
