Texans were inspired and encouraged when President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited Kerr County in the wake of the devastating flash flooding, saying that the visit sparked hope and made the struggling Texans feel supported by the president and the first lady, with some waiting for hours to see them.

For background, on July 11, 2025, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited Kerr County, Texas, to show their support for the communities devastated by the flooding that broke out on July 4. In response to the visit, Texans interviewed by reporters had nothing but positive things to say about the president and first lady.

Speaking to Fox News, Aliz Tribes, a rehabilitation hospital worker in the area affected by the flooding, called President Trump and Melania’s visit to Texas “very significant,” adding, “Our country needs to pull together right now and not point fingers at who’s right or wrong — but to come here and help us and rebuild our community.”

Continuing, Tribes expressed gratitude to the Trumps for visiting suffering Texans, saying, “His presence here is very heartfelt. Everyone is pulling together, and I have never seen anything like this.” She continued, “I just feel like he needed to see that we are behind him and we appreciate his support for our community.”

In addition, Larenda Boyd, a Kerrville resident, said that her community was in shock and that the visit from the president and first lady was a source of relief and hope, adding, “The situation, the devastation — it’s just hard for all of us to grasp and kind of wrap our heads around.” Boyd continued, “He’s gonna make sure we have the resources we need to rebuild and the support.

Moreover, Boyd praised President Trump for making responding to disasters a priority, saying, “You had four years of no one showing up. It is a comfort to me that his people care.” She added, “He sends them right down to make sure: what do we need? That is the president I want. That’s what I voted for. I want somebody that is going to help us and take care of us. Donald Trump really loves our country — and that’s what I voted for.”

Additionally, Fox spoke to Chris and Judy Johnson, a couple who were also encouraged by President Trump’s visit and remarked on his timing, with Chris saying, “If he had done it earlier, it would have been a distraction,” adding, “Now it’s just showing support and I think it’s a big, strong move that lets everybody know that he cares. He always seems to show strong leadership in times of disasters and crises.”

Furthermore, one Texas resident, Brock Semingson, said he waited for two hours to see President Trump in Kerrville, adding, “What a wonderful president… he’s supporting us.” Semingson continued, “Kerr County predominantly voted for President Trump, and we have his support. It’s just something that we needed as a community. But to see him out here supporting us in person means a lot. He just has a very kind heart.”
