Report: Jeremy Renner Was Trying to Save Nephew When Snowmobile Tragedy Occurred

Actor Jeremy Renner, famous for his role as “Hawkeye” in the Marvel cinematic universe, was recently injured in a snowplow accident. He’s now recovering, though he was seriously injured in the accident and has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

Now news has come out on what Renner was doing when the accident occurred. Rather than just being on a joyride, he was trying to help his nephew, whose truck was stuck off the road when the accident occurred, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. Fox News Digital, reporting on that new information, said:

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said in an incident report, obtained by Fox News Digital, that Renner was trying to tow his nephew’s truck out of the snow at his Reno, Nevada, property on a private road.

“Renner was pulled under the Pistenbully, and the track rolled over him,” the report stated.

According to the report, what happened was Renner parked the snowplow to deal with the situation but forgot to engage the emergency brake on it. As a result, it started sliding downhill toward his nephew. The machine weighs nearly a ton, so it could have crushed the nephew had Renner not intervened to try and stop it.

He did so by stepping on the track of the snow plow, trying to redirect it or bring it to a halt, as the track must be stepped on to get into the machine.

Unfortunately, when he stepped on the track to climb in, he got pulled under it and “suffered injuries to his torso, extremities, face and head,” according to the Washoe Sheriff’s Office report.

That report was similar to what Renner’s representatives said after he was injured at the beginning of the year. In their words, “We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd, 2023. He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.”

Fortunately, though Renner was seriously injured in the attempt to save his nephew he survived and the nephew is okay. Renner is now doing well enough to do recovery exercises. Posting about them on Instagram, he said:

Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years …. Spawned from tragedy for my entire family, and quickly focused into uniting actionable love ❤️ I want to thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I …. Much love and appreciation to you all. These 30 plus broken bones will mend , grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens . Love and blessings to you all 🙏❤️🙏.

He also posted about the accident on Instagram shortly after it occurred, saying “Thank you all for your kind words. 🙏. Im too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”
