Pam Bondi Diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer

In news potentially adding more context as to why she was ousted when she was, it was revealed that Attorney General Pam Bondi has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and is now receiving treatment and trying to recover from it. This news comes alongside news that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has left to care for her husband, who has cancer.

According to those outlets that reported on the matter of Bondi’s diagnosis and spoke to sources familiar with her condition, the former attorney general was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer shortly after she was ousted from the administration in April. She is now receiving treatment for her cancer, and will return to the Trump Administration when she recovers from that treatment.

Apparently, her new role in the administration will involve her joining the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. The White House, describing that organization, said, “PCAST brings together the Nation’s foremost luminaries in science and technology to advise the President and provide recommendations on strengthening American leadership in science and technology.”

When asked about that new role that AG Bondi will be fulfilling, Vice President JD Vance told CNN in a statement, “Pam has been an enormously valuable asset to the president’s team, and I’m thrilled for her and for all of us that she’s going to remain involved in confronting some of the most important issues the administration faces.”

Also commenting on the matter, Fox News Channel reported, was Katie Miller, who is the wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. She reacted to the news by saying, commenting on former AG Bondi’s treatment, “Pam has been quietly kicking cancer’s ass the last few weeks.”

More details on what she will be up to on the White House’s new science and technology committee come from USA Today, which reported that she will serve in an advisory capacity regarding artificial intelligence policy. That is in the context of President Trump abruptly scrapping an AI executive order because of concerns about the overregulation of the growing industry, one that is described by its proponents as critical to national security.

President Trump, commenting on the matter of Tulsi Gabbard’s husband’s cancer in a post on Truth Social, said, “Unfortunately, after having done a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the Administration on June 30th. Her wonderful husband, Abraham, has been recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, and she, rightfully, wants to be with him, bringing him back to good health as they currently fight a tough battle together.”

The president then added, commenting on who will follow Gabbard, “I have no doubt he will soon be better than ever. Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her. Her highly respected Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, Aaron Lukas, will serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence.”
