Actress Melissa Barrera has been fired from the production of ‘Scream VII’ after proclaiming that Israel is committing genocide during its war against Hamas in the Middle East. This take, like so many other outlandish opinions, was shared on her social media in a move that cost her a pretty penny and a spot in an iconic movie series.
On her Instagram story, Barrera fired off hot take after hot take, starting by referring to Gaza as a “concentration camp.” She insinuated that the Jews in Israel were working to extinguish their Palestinian neighbors in the unhinged social media rant which ultimately cost her the role in Scream.
She wrote, “Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp,” she wrote. “Cornering everyone together, with nowhere to go, no electricity no water … People have learnt nothing from our histories. And just like our histories, people are still silently watching it all happen. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING.”
Here’s a trend that I’ve been noticing. When a woke Hollywood actor or actress begins using caps lock on a post on social media, look closely. It might even be worthwhile to screenshot the post, because what they are writing in all capital letters is going to be a wild take.
Breitbart also shared a quote from a spokesperson associated with the film, who was quick and unequivocal in the denouncing of Barrera’s woke and anti-Israel stance. Finally, movie companies are standing up against he woke outbursts from Hollywood stars and focusing on delivering content that fans want to watch.
The spokesperson said, “Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”
Barrera may very well become a lesson to plenty of other stars who were considering taking the woke stance of hating on Israel and siding with Hamas in the conflict in Palestine. That stance, as has been made clear, is indefensible in the Hollywood bubble.
A few weeks ago, Donald Trump gave his take on the attacks in a quote shared by The American Tribune.
Trump said, “The conflict between Israel and Hamas is not a conflict between two equal sides. This is a fight between civilization and savagery, between decency and depravity, and between good and evil. There is no comparison between a group that worships death and a group that cherishes life and cherishes our nation. Every single life that is lost in this conflict is on the shoulders of Hamas, Hamas alone — and I think you really have to add in the word ‘Iran’.”
Hopefully this is a first in Hollywood where the conservative viewpoint is finally being given its due. Yeah, you can certainly have opinions of your own, but thanks to the good work done by millions of American conservative who voted with their wallets, extreme woeness is no longer acceptable on movie sets.
