“Legit Insane”: Leftist Professor Attacks MAGA Hat-Wearing Conservative, Tries to Take His Hat [VIDEO]

In an egregious example of hypocrisy from the left, two Washington State University (WSU) faculty members were fired for assaulting an engineering student named Jay Sani, who was wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat at the time and later shared his story with conservative influencer Charlie Kirk and the crowd at a Turning Point USA event.

For context, Sani, who was reportedly assaulted by graduate student and instructor Patrick Mahoney and staff member Gerald Hoff, told Charlie Kirk about how he was targeted for wearing a MAGA hat, explaining that he was punched in the face and had his head slammed on the pavement.

While interviewing Sani on stage, Kirk asked the engineering student, “So you got punched in the face. You got punched in the face by a professor here. What happened?” Sani responded, “Well, basically…I was walking to [the food court] to get my food exchange, and PSU student Patrick Mahoney, as well as his accomplice, Gerald Hoff, did not like the hat I was wearing, all right.”

Continuing, Sani explained that when he put his head down, Patrick “ripped the hat off my head, crumbled it.” He added, “I had to go confront him and say, ‘What are you doing, dude?’ Because he had the hat on. Then he told me to, ‘Go get it, b–ch.'” At that point, Sani apologized to Kirk and the crowd for swearing before continuing his story. “I’m sorry,” he said wryly, as the crowd laughed.

Next, Sani explained that Patrick “leaned towards me, so like you see, I had to go throw my food at his face.” The crowd responded to this comment with more laughs, but Sani defended his decision, saying that he reacted “because I thought he was about to throw a punch.” He added, “He charged at me. I had to stand, you know, my ground.”

Furthermore, Sani explained that faculty member Gerald Hoff “also came at me” and “grabbed my leg.” He continued, “I was falling down. Patrick grabbed my chest, slammed it on the road, pavement. Then, he grabbed my head and also slammed it on the road, pavement as well.” Kirk responded to the story by saying, “If a conservative professor would have hunted down a Kamala Harris-wearing student, it would’ve been a hate crime and the number-one news story in the country. Now, we can barely get attention for a man who was punched by a professor.”

Posting the story online on May 5, 2025, conservative influencer Krista Monroe pointed out the bizarre nature of the professor’s behavior, writing,  “Democrats are are (sic) brainwashing their base to become full-on terrorists.” She added, “The left are legit insane. A liberal professor punched him in the face over a MAGA hat, after he had already ripped it off his head. The PROFESSOR. Let that sink in.”

Responding in the comments, conservatives expressed their outrage, with the X user Tosca Austen writing, “Radicalized academia, this is exactly what’s wrong with universities today.” Monroe replied, “It’s an absolutely infuriating problem to have. These people should be nowhere near impressionable minds.”
