Jim Jordan Works With Trump to Take Action Against Activist Judges

House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) is working alongside President Trump and a group of House Republicans to stop rogue activist judges like James Boasberg from blocking key aspects of Trump’s plan to deport illegal immigrant criminals, with Jordan confirming that he briefed President Trump on the threat posed by Boasberg and others.

For context, according to press coverage from March 24, 2025, Rep. Jordan spoke to President Trump about the need to work against federal judges and rein them in, explaining that several House Republicans had introduced legislation that could bypass the impeachment process and get judges removed from office as fast as possible.

Rep. Jordan’s announcement came shortly after Judge James Boasberg was impeached on March 18, 2025. The impeachment resolution claimed that Judge Boasberg has “prevented President Trump from removing aliens associated with Tren de Aragua, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization, from the United States.” In addition, the resolution focused on the fact that Judge Boasberg used an injunction to “require President Trump to turn around planes in midair” that were taking illegal aliens to El Salvador.

Speaking to the press on March 24, Rep. Jordan asserted that the general American public is well aware that judges like Boasberg are working to subvert President Trump, saying, “The country instinctively knows there’s been this aggressive push against the president for policies he campaigned on that he was elected to implement.” Jordan added, “That’s a problem.”

In addition to Rep. Jordan, House Republicans like Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) have introduced new legislation that will counteract the subversive tactics used by judges like Boasberg. According to Sen. Grassley, the newly introduced Judicial Relief Clarification Act of 2025 “clarifies the scope of judicial power and resolves illegitimate judicial infringement upon the executive branch.”

Furthermore, Sen. Grassley described the bill as “commonsense,” adding that it provides “long-term constitutional clarity and curb[s] district courts’ growing tendency to overstep by issuing sweeping, nationwide orders.” Grassley also explained that the bill exists to prevent “sweeping orders from individual district judges that dictate national policy.”

Like Sen. Grassley, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) also introduced a similar piece of legislation, the No Rogue Rulings Act, which he explained was a response to “rogue judge rulings” that were, in his opinion, “a new resistance to the Trump administration and the only time in which judges in robes, in this number, have felt it necessary to participate in the political process rather than participate in the Article III process.”

Following the introduction of these new pieces of legislation, Rep. Jordan expressed his support and echoed the concerns of lawmakers like Sen. Grassley and Rep. Issa, saying, “Who gets to make the call? Is it the guy whose name is on the ballot, or some bureaucrat? Is it the guy who got 77 million votes, or some district judge?” On a similar note, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich referred to Judge Boasberg’s actions as “a judicial coup d’etat.”
