Elizabeth Warren is in hot water after critics pointed out she had funneled wildfire relief donations to the controversial Democratic funding platform ActBlue, despite telling her followers on social media that “100%” of funds raised would go “directly” to California relief organizations when, in reality, 4% of every donation went to ActBlue.
For context, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) wrote a post on X on January 11, 2025, asking for donations to support communities affected by the LA wildfires, telling her followers that all funds raised would go directly to two organizations: the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles. However, conservatives noted that the link that Sen. Warren attached to the post routed donations through ActBlue, which reportedly takes a roughly 4% cut of all funds raised via its online platform.
In her original post, Sen. Warren called on her followers to donate funds in support of the communities affected by the Los Angeles wildfires, which raged from January 7 to 31, 2025, writing, “To help support the communities around L.A. being devastated by wildfires, can you split a donation between the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles?” She added, “100% of your donation will go directly to these organizations.”
However, after Sen. Warren wrote her fundraising appeal, conservatives in the comments section caught her in a lie. One user, Tim Young, wrote, “This is a scam to fundraise for Democrat campaigns…ActBlue??? You should be ashamed of yourself.” Another user pointed out, “These donations go directly to ActBlue, the Democratic dark money site.” They added, “Do not donate to any politician, find a reputable site if you must.”
In addition, more conservatives roasted Sen. Warren in the comments, pointing out that she was “funneling donations through a left-wing company” and describing ActBlue as a “Democrat money laundering scam.” In a comment that got 6,800 likes, the X account Libs of TikTok wrote, “We know you are evil, but this is next level.” Another account chimed in, “Dems are using the LA fires to raise money for their political PAC. Scum of the earth.”
Months after the original post was shared on X, conservative influencer Mila Joy called for Sen. Warren to be investigated in a May 11, 2025, X post, saying, “Elizabeth Warren was skimming off the top of Los Angeles fire donations for her own personal gain.” She added, “Its (sic) fraud,” before calling for Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel to “investigate and prosecute” Senator Warren for using the front of a charity fundraiser to benefit her own campaign. Joy concluded, “It won’t stop unless we stop it.”
Furthermore, on March 8, 2025, the X account Western Decline also called out Sen. Warren for her shady dealings in a reply to Elon Musk, writing, “Reminder that Elizabeth Warren was caught diverting funds intended for victims of the LA fires to ActBlue.” They added, “Of course, the media completely ignored this scandal. Share this and expose these fraudsters, we are the media now.”

In response to Western Decline’s post, countless conservatives called for Sen. Warren to be arrested. The conservative influencer Sarah Smith wrote, “Elizabeth Warren is a Soros puppet!” referring to Elon Musk’s announcement that Soros was a prominent ActBlue financier. Musk wrote, “ActBlue is currently under investigation for allowing foreign and illegal donations in criminal violation of campaign finance regulations.”
