“I’m Not Good at This”: Bodycam Footage Shows Democrat Senator Arrested During Burglary Attempt Making Accidentally Hilarious Comments [WATCH]

Disgraced Minnesota Democrat Nicole Mitchell was humiliated during her criminal trial by revealing bodycam footage that shows her admitting that she “did something bad” after being arrested for breaking into her stepmother’s house in the dead of night, which resulted in her being hit with multiple felony charges.

For background, State Sen. Nicole Mitchell (D-MN-DFL) was arrested on April 22, 2024, after she broke into her stepmother’s home, allegedly in an effort to retrieve items that belonged to her late father. Sen. Mitchell’s trial began on July 14, 2025, and the prosecuting attorneys presented bodycam footage that painted a humiliating picture of the senator’s actions.

The bodycam footage presented by the prosecution provides a first-person view of an officer encountering Sen. Mitchell in the basement of her stepmother’s home. When confronted by the officer, the senator identified herself and addressed her stepmother, saying that she was “just trying to get some of my dad’s things because you wouldn’t talk to me anymore.”

Moreover, the bodycam footage depicts the senator blurting out multiple embarrassing and incriminating statements. When she was escorted out to a police cruiser and handcuffed, Sen. Mitcell said, “Clearly, I’m not good at this.” Furthermore, the senator admitted, “I know I did something bad.”

However, Sen. Mitchell also attempted to defend her actions by telling the officer who arrested her that her stepmother is “paranoid” and suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease. Then, the senator went on to say that her stepmother had “progressively cut off the family” because of Alzheimer’s-induced paranoia, going on to defend herself again by saying she “just wanted to get a couple of my dad’s mementos.”

During the senator’s trial, prosecuting attorney Brian McDonald responded to the bodycam footage by saying that Sen. Mitchell “was caught red-handed.” He added that based on the footage, “This case won’t be about speculation. It won’t be about trying to read between any lines.”

Furthermore, the attorney added that based on the incriminating footage, the case “will be about what the defendant did, what she admitted to, and what you will see and hear with your own eyes and ears.” The attorney went on to say, “No amount of grief or frustration can justify a home burglary,” McDonald said. “Do not get distracted.”

Importantly, Mitchell’s attorneys attempted to characterize her as a concerned stepdaughter looking out for her late father, with defense attorney Bruce Ringstrom Jr. calling her “a person who always gets things done,” adding, “Her persistence can be counted on. So when problems come up in the family, she takes the initiative to fix those problems.” However, McDonald was unconvinced, saying, “What matters for burglary is that they got in without permission and they intended to commit a crime inside the building.”
