Ilhan Omar’s Daughter Cheers Anti-ICE Riots and Calls for “Death” to “Colonial Empire” America

The daughter of woke Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar is calling for “death to the colonial empire” on social media as part of a string of far-left activist sentiments that the young woman has shared online that raised red flags for conservative organizations, with at least one group warning that Omar’s daughter was advocating for antisemitism.

For context, Isra Hirsi, the daughter of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), posted extremely inflammatory content calling for “death” to America on social media on June 9, 2025, which led the organization Stop Antisemitism to call her and her mother out online. Moreover, Hirsi’s social media post implied connections between the violent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles and the conflict in Gaza.

Hirsi’s post, which was screenshotted and shared by Stop Antisemitism, read, “From L.A. to Rafah, there is one common oppressor — Death to the colonial empire.” The text continued, “Life for our children.” In response to the post, Stop Antisemitism wrote, “A sitting congresswoman’s daughter is calling for the death of America and Israel.”

Continuing, Stop Antisemitism pointed to Hirsi’s history of involvement with pro-Palestine protests that have been labeled antisemitic, saying, “Isra Hirsi has been arrested at antisemitic encampments that endangered Jewish students. Now she posts ‘Death to the colonial empire.'” The organization added, “This is dangerous and cannot be ignored, @Ilhan. America gave your family refuge, this is how your daughter repays it?”

Moreover, press accounts confirmed that, as suggested by Stop Antisemitism, Hirsi had previously been arrested for her involvement in the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Columbia University, which was broken up by NYPD officers on April 19, 2024. In addition, Hirsi was reportedly evicted from her dorm following the protest, which led her to describe herself as “houseless” in an interview with Teen Vogue Magazine.

Furthermore, speaking to Teen Vogue’s Lex McMenamin, Hirsi said that after she was detained by police for her involvement in the Gaza Solidarity Encampment, “Genuinely, we have no clue [what happens next]. Our interim suspension is contingent on what happens at our hearings, which has not been set. They told us that we would receive a date by Monday at noon, so I’m basically at least houseless until then.”

After Hirsi’s arrest, her mother spoke out on X, describing herself as “enormously proud” of her daughter. Continuing her April 19, 2024, post, she wrote, “She has always led with courage and compassion, from organizing a statewide school walk out on the 20th anniversary of Columbine at the age of 15, to leading the biggest youth climate rally at our nation’s Capitol at 16, and now pushing her school to stand against genocide.”

In response to Rep. Omar’s post, author and speaker Aviva Klompas wrote, “This was hate speech, not free speech. There is nothing to be proud of when students chant the evil words of terrorists and punish Jewish students.” In response, Rep. Omar shot back, “Go away you hateful liar.”
