Speaking during one of the wildest episodes of ABC’s “The View,” one in which things went off the chain when it was claimed that Trump would shut down “The View” if re-elected, woke MSNBC host Rachel Maddow also claimed that, should Trump managed to win the 2024 election in November, she doesn’t think that “anyone” will be safe.
That part of the conversation began with far-left “The View” host Joy Behar rambling about how scary she finds the potential of another Trump administration, arguing that he will be only after retribution and looking for someone to blame, with the insinuation of Behar’s rant being that such retribution and blame would be unfair, even after all the lawfare attacks on him.
Beginning, Behar warned that “retribution” is on Trump’s mind, saying, “There has been a lot of talk about Trump seeking retribution if he gets into office for his legal troubles, for his personal troubles, for his hair, whatever. He always has somebody to blame, you know? So you said recently that you thought that you as an outspoken critic, could be a target yourself.”
Continuing, she argued that her worrying about Trump targeting people wasn’t “overdramatic,” saying, “Some people think that sounds overdramatic but I’m right there with you. I think that he is so vindictive that he will go after, however he has to, whether it’s through the IRS maybe, or even through sponsors to get us off the air maybe or you. How seriously should we be taking that?”
That is when Maddow said that no one is safe if Trump wins. First, however, she said that she is “worried” about all those close to her and “everybody in the country,” saying, “Well, so I was asked am I worried about me and my answer was I’m worried about all of us. I’m no more worried about me than I am worried about everybody in the country.”
She then got to her line about no one being safe, which she attempted to bolster by claiming that Trump is labeling his political opponents “subhuman internal enemies.” She said, “I think it’s bad having somebody saying, ‘give me as much power as you can in this country so I can use it to go after other Americans, so I can use it to go after these subhuman internal enemies and destroy them.’ That’s just not a good system for anybody. I don’t think anybody is safe if that’s the sort of basis on which he wants to get more power.”
Then, concluding, Maddow claimed that she would be fine but she is worried about Trump deciding to terrorize people, ignoring that the left has waged a lawfare campaign on him attempting to do just that. She said, “If he decides he’s going to go after you or me or anybody who is well known, we have resources, we’ll likely be fine, but I think there’s a pattern where he picks out individual people and effectively terrorizes them.”
