In a bombshell interview, President Trump told Fox News personality Sean Hannity the details of his long-term economic plans, which include major benefits for American senior citizens, with the president confirming that he fully intends to remove taxes on Social Security benefits.
For context, in an interview with Sean Hannity aboard Air Force One on May 13, 2025, President Trump discussed his new tax plans, revealing that he intends to remove the tax on Social Security benefits for American senior citizens, along with doing away with providing additional major tax breaks for seniors, plus a host of other benefits.
In the interview, Hannity jokingly described Air Force One as “not a bad plane,” to which the president replied, “Not bad at all, not bad at all. It’s a beautiful plane, and we’re doing a lot of business, and we have a lot of good things happening.” President Trump went on to explain his rationale for getting involved with the conflict between India and Pakistan, saying, “They’re two very strongly nuclear countries… and if that ever started, boy, that’s the beginning of something that could be really bad.”
Later in the interview, Hannity and the president discussed the impact of President Trump’s new economic plan, which centers around the “Big, Beautiful Bill.” Hannity told the president, “There are many legs to your economic plan that you’re laying out. One is…the trade deals. Second is, tax cuts permanent, no tax tips, no tax Social Security.” The president replied, “Interest deduction on cars. Remember that?” Hannity responded, “That’s big.”
Continuing, the president explained that his long-term plan included “no tax on tips” and “no tax on Social Security benefits for seniors,” along with “no tax on overtime,” adding, “But, there’s a fourth leg that I think is really important, of that, where middle income people, but any people, if you buy a car made in America only, I’m not interested if it’s made anywhere else, I couldn’t care less.”
Building on his point, the president explained that under his new economic policies, Americans who buy cars made in America will “get a tax deduction on your interest payments.” He continued, “That’s a big deal. That’s never happened before,” adding, “That’s a huge game changer for the auto industry, too.”
Next, Hannity asked the president to weigh in on the “leadership that’s emerged” within the Democratic Party, citing “Jasmine Crockett, AOC, the squad, [and] grandpa Bernie” as examples. President Trump responded with a searing critique of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), saying, “I think he’s afraid…he’s lost his confidence, totally.” He added, “I’ve known him so long and he’s in the other party, but, you know, I’ve known the guy so long, he’s totally lost his confidence.”

In addition, President Trump told Hannity about the support he had received in the election from unions and auto industry workers based on his commitment to revitalizing the American economy, adding, “We also won people of common sense, rich people, poor people, middle-income people. We won, sort of, everybody, you know, if you take a look at the stats.”
