FBI Director Kash Patel Announces FBI Hunting Down Financial Backers of LA Riots

FBI Director Kash Patel has confirmed that his agency is investigating possible financial backers behind the violent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, with Patel explaining that the FBI was carefully looking into any possible sources of funding that could have sparked the chaos that broke out in California on June 6, 2025.

For context, press accounts confirmed on June 16, 2025, that FBI Director Kash Patel had spoken openly about taking any measures possible to root out leftist financial backers behind the violent anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protests that raged on for days in California. Director Patel reportedly told the Epoch Times that the agency was investigating “any and all” possible sources of funding for the riots.

Moreover, Epoch Times journalist Eva Fu reported allegations that the Party for Socialism and Liberation, a communist political faction, had been funneling money to support the riots. Fu wrote that the party had been “posting updates about the riots on social media platform X, describing the arrests of illegal immigrants as a ‘war being waged on immigrant communities.'”

As Fu reported, the Party for Socialism and Liberation released multiple statements on X in tandem with the protests, including a June 8, 2025, post describing the ICE raids in Los Angeles as “the war on immigrants,” saying, “Immigrants are and have always been a central part of the working class of this country. We cannot allow them to divide us and turn neighbor against neighbor.”

Furthermore, the post from the party argued that if the “whole working class” were to protest, it would be possible to “change the politics of this country and deal a blow to the billionaire agenda of the Trump Administration that it will never recover from.” Importantly, Fu pointed out that the party was “linked to networks funded by pro-Beijing tech tycoon Neville Roy Singham.”

In addition, Fu reported that the People’s Forum,  another organization funded by Singham, had also promoted the anti-ICE protests on X, calling for people to “demand ICE get out of our communities” in a post from June 8, 2025. The post added, “For those who believe in immigrant rights, for those who believe in democracy, for the entire working class – now is the time to take to the streets in protest!”

Continuing her investigative piece on the possible sources of funding for the riots, Fu wrote that the People’s Forum had written explicitly about receiving funds from Singham, quoting a statement from the group that said, “Yes, we stand with Palestine. Yes, we oppose the U.S. war drive on Russia and China. And yes, for the thousandth time, TPF has received donations from our friend Roy Singham, a former Black Panther and lifelong socialist, who had a bank account at Goldman Sachs.”

The allegations that Singham-funded organizations had funnelled money into the anti-ICE riots reportedly led Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) to call for an investigation into Singham alongside other members of the House Oversight Committee. On June 13, 2025, Rep. Luna wrote on X, “EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN on @GOPoversight signed on to our investigation into billionaire Neville Singham. We will NOT TOLERATE CCP sowing division in our country!”
