“Democrat Inspired Scam”: President Trump, Victims Of California Wildfires Sound Off after $100 Million Vanishes into NGO Complex Rather than Going Straight to Victims

President Trump joined the victims of the California wildfires in calling out the state’s woke leadership after $100 million in aid funding went after it was raised at a benefit concert, which was billed as being specifically “for wildfire victims,” although those victims reportedly never received a penny of the money, which disappeared into the NGO complex instead.

For background, on July 25, 2025, individuals affected by the California wildfires that raged in January spoke to Fox News about their disappointment and confusion over the lack of funding from FireAid, a benefit concert that was intended to provide direct payments to victims. However, Fox reported that the funds raised by the concert instead went to a group of NGOs and non-profits.

Speaking to Fox about the missing funds, David Howard, who lost several properties to the fires, said, “I have not seen any benefit from the FireAid money, and I am very involved here, and neither have my neighbors.” Likewise, fire victim Mark Jones said he was under the impression that he was to receive money after the concert, saying, “The fire aid was for us.”

Continuing, Jones said that he and the other victims “figured, ‘Where is the money?’ Where is it going?” However, a FireAid reportedly responded to Fox by saying that it “does not have the capability to make direct payments to individuals and that was never the plan.” The organization added, “We partnered directly with trusted local non-profits…to reach communities in need.”

In addition, according to Fox, the funds raised by FireAid went to dozens of non-profit organizations and NGOs. One unnamed group responded to an inquiry from Fox, saying that they promoted “self-determination in the Latino community” and would use their FireAid funds to support “a more humane and democratic society by responding to the needs and problems of disenfranchised people.”

Responding to the scandal in a searing, all-caps post shared on Truth Social on July 25, President Trump wrote, “‘FIREAID’ IS A TOTAL DISASTER. LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER DEMOCRAT INSPIRED SCAM.” He continued, “100 MILLION DOLLARS IS MISSING. WAS SUPPOSED TO TO (sic) GO TO THE LOS ANGELES FIRE VICTIMS, FIRES THAT, WITH PROPER MANAGEMENT, WOULD NEVER HAVE EVEN HAPPENED.”

Continuing, the president said that California Governor Gavin Newsom, whom Trump referred to as “GAVIN NEWSCUM,” had “REFUSED TO RELEASE BILLIONS OF GALLONS OF WATER FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, AND THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST.” He added, “WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT WOULD HAVE MADE!”

Concluding his post, President Trump said that he had “OVERRULED” Gov. Newsom, adding that the water had been released. He continued, “All FEDERAL HOUSING PERMITS HAVE ALSO BEEN APPROVED, THE CITY IS YEARS LATE. GET THE FIRE VICTIMS THEIR APPROVALS TO REBUILD, AND DO IT NOW!”
