Border Patrol Announces “Phenomenal,” Historic Turnaround as Number of Monthly Illegal Alien Releases into America Crashes to Zero

The Trump Administration scored another epic win when new U.S. Border Patrol data revealed that no illegal immigrants crossed the border into the United States last month, a monumental drop from the same time last year, when a reported 62,000 people entered the country illegally under the Biden administration.

For context, in an interview with Fox News on June 18, 2025, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks said that the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border had reached a historic low in May 2025, effectively proving that the president’s crackdown on illegal immigration is making a major impact on border security.

Speaking to Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt, Chief Banks described the change in illegal immigration statistics as “phenomenal,” adding, “Anybody that cares about national security knows that, under the last administration, we were breaking record numbers of people that were coming into the country illegally and that were being released into the country… And to go from over 62,000 down to zero, we’re breaking record numbers in the right direction now.”

In addition, the U.S. Border Patrol chief clarified that the border is “closer to operational security” than ever before. However, Banks clarified that his agency is not yet ready to call the issue settled. Nevertheless, he said that victory was “fast approaching.” He added, “Two days ago, we broke another record – 141 entries at the southwest border. Those entries are all apprehended, and none of them will be released.”

Furthermore, Banks gave President Trump the ultimate credit for the change, thanking the president for supporting Border Patrol in its mission to protect America from dangerous illegal immigrant criminals. The chief told Earhardt, “We’ve said all along that the United States Border Patrol knows how to secure the border. We just need leadership, and with the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem, we are proving exactly what we’ve been saying for years: Let us enforce the laws, and we’ll get the job done.”

Additionally, the Border Patrol chief said that he believes “the American people are seeing” the success of his agency and taking it seriously. He added, “We’re just getting started. We’re not even close to being done.” Moreover, the chief said that the key to his agency’s work was not new laws, but, instead, was “to be allowed to enforce the laws.” He continued, “The previous administration wrote policies that usurped the laws and prevented Border Patrol agents from doing their job.”

Continuing to praise President Trump for his impact on Border Patrol’s success, Banks said, “This president came in and said, ‘Nope, go out and do your job,’ and look, we’re getting it done. And like you said, we’re breaking numbers in the right direction. We’re breaking numbers that are making this country more secure, and the Border Patrol is doing what we’ve always known how to do.”
