In a scandal that humiliated the left, a Connecticut state employee was arrested after she altered voter registration cards to change the listed party to Democratic, leading to a fraud complaint and an eventual conviction by the State Election Enforcement Commission (SEEC) and police in Torrington, CT, with the employee later going free on a $10,000 bond.
For context, Arlanda Brantley, a 57-year-old employee of Connecticut’s Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, turned herself in on January 28, 2025, and was subsequently charged with five counts of primary or enrollment violations. According to Torrington, CT’s police Sergeant Kyle Johnson, Brantley’s arrest was the result of a SEEC investigation that began all the way back in October of 2024.
According to press accounts of the incident, Brantley was under investigation because of her use of Wite-Out on voter registration cards, which drew the attention of Torrington, CT registrar clerk Melissa Russell, who went on to notify the police. Because of Russell’s keen eye for detail, all of fraudulent voter registration cards were identified.
After her arrest, Brantley went on to admit to the police that she used Wite-Out on voter registration cards. For the sake of due diligence, the police questioned all of the individuals whose cards were changed and confirmed that none of them had used Wite-Out to alter their own voter registration submissions. In addition, the questioned individuals confirmed that they had not spoken with Brantley about changes to their cards, according to the press.
After the investigation led to Brantley’s arrest, all of the individuals whose registration cards were altered were sent new cards, along with a postage-paid envelope and an explanation of what happened to the original registration cards.
Ultimately, Brantley’s charges were determined to be misdemeanors, and she went on to go free with a scheduled hearing for February 2025. The final outcome of her case has not been disclosed to the public, but public records show that Brantley is still a resident of Connecticut. It is unclear whether the 57-year-old is still employed by the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
When an X user, @Andreafreedom76, posted a video covering the arrest on X, it drew ire from conservatives, with some speculating that this may not be the only instance of voter registration fraud to occur in the wake of President Trump’s election. One commenter with the handle Edward wrote, “Not surprised… expect more to follow.”

This scandal is one in a string of recent examples of blatant fraud and corruption on the left, with another similar instance being the investigation into suspicious donations to the campaign of Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), which resulted from a complaint filed by the conservative Coolidge-Reagan Foundation in March 2025.
