President Joe Biden finally did his highly anticipated solo, “Big Boy” press conference on the evening of Thursday, July 11. Predictably, the gaffe-prone president made many awkward mistakes and gaffes during the press conference, butchering what was meant to be an event that bought him time and restored some public faith in his mental health after the disaster of his June 27 debate with former President Donald Trump.
As background, White House Press Secretary Karien Jean Pierre said during a press briefing before Biden’s press conference that it was a “big boy” press conference that Biden would do. She said, “This week, President Biden will speak to national labor leaders of AFLCIO, host the NATO summit to show the unprecedented strength of our alliance, hold a press conference – a ‘big boy press conference.”
Then, during the press conference itself, President Joe Biden made many of the gaffes for which he is infamous. At one point, for example, he stumbled over his words when trying to speak about the competence of Vice President Kamala Harris, accidentally saying that Donald Trump is his vice president and had intentionally been put in that position.
Watch Biden here:
He was, just as predictably as his horrible gaffes, hilariously mocked for them by various conservatives online. For example, Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce said, “This NATO press conference with Biden is another disaster. It is inexplicable the people advising this man continue to think that somehow he’s not going to humiliate himself and this country. Why do they continue to allow this to happen?”
Similarly, African-American conservative and Fox News Channel contributor Leo Terrell argued that the press conference was a “disaster” for the current president, namely because he wasn’t answering the questions of the journalist present at the vent. Terrell said, “This press conference is a disaster. Joe Biden is not answering the questions.”
Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to mock Biden over the incident, particularly the “Vice President Trump” disaster, saying, “Crooked Joe begins his “Big Boy” Press Conference with, ‘I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president, though I think she was not qualified to be president.’ Great job, Joe!”
In another post about Joe, former President Trump wrote more about Biden’s gaffes, saying, “They’re blaming all of Crooked Joe Biden’s problems on me, including his really bad performance in the Debate. Some say that I was not respectful of him, and he just plain “choked.” Actually, I tried being as nice as possible considering that this is the man who has systematically destroyed our Country, and the man who has WEAPONIZED his Justice Department, doing everything possible to put his Political Opponent, me, in jail. Why should I be “nice” to him? He said he “just had a bad night,” and I hope, for the good of the Country, that he is right. But his performance since that very eventful Debate evening has not exactly been stellar. Yesterday, before his News Conference, he made an unpardonable gaffe, introducing President Zelenskyy as President Putin. Despite all of this, he shouldn’t allow complete losers like George Clooney, under the total auspices and control of Barack Hussein Obama, to push him out of office. That must be his decision, and his decision alone. Good luck Joe!”
Joining in, Daily Wire personality Michael Knowles joked about Biden’s Zelensky-Putin gaffe earlier in the day, saying, “My main takeaway from this press conference is that President Biden and Vice President Trump have done a marvelous job supporting President Putin of Ukraine.”
