Famous actor and comedian Michael Rappaport recently admitted that he “was wrong” about Donald Trump after harshly criticizing the former president for years. Rappaport has been known for profanity-laced rants about Trump, displaying what many conservatives call “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” or TDS for short. However, Rappaport claimed that due to the economy and Israel, voting for Trump may be a possibility.
Rappaport, who is Jewish, told conservative commentator Sage Steele how a friend of his enlightened him on Trump’s pro-Israel stance. “You know a woman who’s, who’s a friend of mine, who I’ve gotten to meet, who’s a great, read, smart, brilliant woman named Dr. Enoch Wilf. I read her books. You know I was, I was asking her about Trump, and, you know, Trump in Israel, and she said, I give him 100%, not a 95, and not a 90, 100% he was during his time for Israel.,” he explained.
While admitting he was wrong, the comedian noted that his motivations to bash Trump were fueled by the former president’s “mouth.” He said, “And I was wrong, because I talked shit about Jared. I was, I was wrong, you know, and I have you, I mean, I was this first in line talking sh*t about Trump. I gave him all, I mean, I was, I mean, I was all day, every day … Because I didn’t like his mouth…I didn’t feel like it was appropriate. And I would say that to him today if I would say, like, Yo, you your mouth, man, you’re the president. You’re also seventy-nine you’re, you’re the president, you’re seventy nine. You just got shot in the air. Like, get some new material. Like, like, like, truly, like, bring us together. Like, shut the sh*t up.”
Rappaport further outlined his desired foreign policy agenda for the Middle East. “First and foremost is Israel, and is supporting Israel and Iran needs to be drained forever. How? I don’t know. But financially, there’s a way to tariff their asses so they, like, squeeze, they have nothing. So they can’t support these Hezbollah, these Houthis that could send a drone the size of a car in the Tel Aviv, which is like, sending it into, like, you know, like it came off like the Hudson River,” he said.
The actor emphasized that he was wrong about Trump, particularly with Israel and the economy, where Rappaport cited accomplishments the former president had with Iran and longed for the economic conditions under the past administration. Americans have endured persistent inflation and high interest rates under Biden.
“I was wrong about Israel, and I was wrong about economy stuff. I was wrong. I was not I wasn’t even wrong about Israel. I was ill informed about about how he, you know, what he did with Iran, and the importance of that, and how it was put the screws to Iran. You know, I never, I think, you know, as I’m sort of going through this sort of process of understanding and learning, I never, I feel like no matter who anybody votes for, it’s never going to be exactly what you want. You know, I don’t agree with everything my wife says, you know,” he said. “But at the end of the day, you know, like, I’m clear. I want my interest rates to be down, and I know that go that doesn’t have anything to do. And then first, and then Israel needs to be protected more than ever.”
While Rappaport didn’t outright commit to voting for Donald Trump in the upcoming election, he claimed it was “on the table.” The comedian made headlines in May, when rescinded his prior endorsement of President Biden. Watch the interview between Rappaport and Steele below:
