According to Alpha News reporter Liz Collins, police officers raided the apartment in which Rep. Ilhan Omar’s son lives, confiscating firearms and ammunition during the raid, though not arresting her son. The police did arrest an individual named Abdulrahman Abdi, leading to indications that he rather than Adnan Hirsi, the son of Ilhan Omar, would be arrested.
Posting about the matter on X, Collins announced that the raid occurred on the night of Tuesday, August 25, and that police arrested a different man than Omar’s son earlier in the day and seized weaponry from the apartment that they raided. She did not say why the raid occurred, specifically, of what wrongdoing Abdi was accused, or if Hirsi faced any allegations of wrongdoing. Fox News Digital later clarified that Hirsi did not, in fact, face any allegations of wrongdoing.
She began the post by saying, “Multiple law enforcement sources say a search warrant was conducted Tuesday night on the apartment where Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s son lives in Minneapolis. Guns and ammunition were recovered from the scene.”
Continuing, she went on to add, “In response to our questions about what took place at the apartment, MPD confirmed another man, who is not the Congresswoman’s son, was arrested earlier in the day. Abdulrahman Abdi was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on a weapons charge.”
In a screenshot that was shared as part of the post, she included what looked like a police description of events, which gave more details on why the raid occurred and what sparked it. That began, “An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of 11th St S. The driver was cited for Driving After Cancellation and No Proof of Insurance and was released at the scene. The vehicle was impounded.
During the impound process, a firearm was recovered from the vehicle.”
Continuing, it said, “Officers later tracked the driver, identified as ABDULRAHMAN TULLE ABDI, age 22, to an apartment in the 1300 block of Marquette Ave, where he was arrested without incident. He was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on a weapons charge. MPD continues to investigate.”
Fox News Digital, reporting on the matter, noted that Ilhan Omar’s son did not face allegations of wrongdoing and that the Minneapolis Police Department declined to comment on the matter of the raid or arrest when asked for comment by Fox News Digital.

However, it was able to report that it had confirmed that Abdi’s arrest occurred and that the raid happened. Further, Fox News Digital reported that Abdi was released shortly before midnight on Wednesday after having been booked somewhat before noon on Tuesday.
There is also the question of why Omar’s son was roommates with Abdi, who, as The Daily Mail found in court records, has been convicted at least 10 times, with most of the offenses, it reports, being misdemeanors. That record of Abdi’s includes convictions for such offenses as speeding, driving with a revoked license, using his cellphone as he drove, and failing to provide insurance proof. He also pleaded guilty to trying to flee a police officer in his car after being caught, according to the police and prosecutors, driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee at 108 mph.
