WATCH: JD Vance Exposes How Sanctuary Cities are Putting ICE Agents at Risk

Speaking in a powerful press conference in Minnesota, the same press conference in which he stood in front of the old Minnesota flag rather than the new one that many conservatives contend looks like the Somali flag, Vice President JD Vance sounded off on the far-left’s state refusal to cooperate with federal immigration efforts, contending that its obstinacy had put ICE agents at risk.

As background, not only is Minneapolis a sanctuary city, but it has been caught in a slew of scandals in which it is alleged to have done little to nothing as Somali fraudsters in the state pilfered billions upon billions of dollars from state and federal taxpayers, stealing from a wide slew of welfare programs in one of the biggest fraud scandals to rock America.

Now, ICE and DHS agents have flooded into the state and its primary cities to deal with the various concerning problems, from massive fraud to mass illegal immigration, and have faced dire threats to personal safety as they have done so, with one agent even having to fire on a leftist protester who tried to run him over.

Commenting on the situation and firmly arguing that the state’s failure to properly work with federal immigration authorities is why those agents are at such risk and why the protests have spiraled out of control, the vice president said, “The reason why things have gotten so out of hand is because of failure of cooperation between the state and local authorities and what these guys are trying to do.”

Continuing, the vice president argued that the state’s intransigence has forced the federal government to waste a great many resources on it, saying, “We have a ton of resources, a ton of ICE agents in this city right now that I would rather us not have. I’d love to send those guys home. They’re not even doing targeted immigration enforcement.”

He added that the local cops have refused to even help ICE agents defend themselves from mobs, saying, “They’re trying to protect ICE officers who are doing immigration enforcement because when a crowd surrounds them, and these guys call 911, the local officials, the local cops have been told to stand down.”

During the same press conference, he totally shut down a reporter who pushed a false story about a young child being detained. The reporter asked, spewing the false story, “A local school district here is alleging ICE agents detained a 5-year-old after preschool on Tuesday…Are you proud of how your administration is conducting this immigration crackdown…”

Vance, firing back, snapped, “I actually saw this terrible story while I was coming to Minneapolis…I see this story and I am a father of a 5-year-old actually, 5-year-old little boy, I think to myself oh my God this is terrible how did we arrest a 5-year-old?” He continued,  “Well I do a little bit more follow-up research and what I find is that the five-year-old was not arrested —that his dad was an illegal alien, and then when they went to arrest his illegal alien father, the father ran.”

Concluding, he noted that ICE did the only thing it could, which is keep the child safe from the inclement weather after he was abandoned by his father, saying, “So the story is that ‘ICE detained a five-year-old.’ Well, what are they supposed to do? Are they supposed to let a five year old child freeze to death?”
