WATCH: Tucker Carlson Sounds Off on How “Deep State” Agencies Control Members of Congress

In a recently unearthed video from several years ago, Conservative icon Tucker Carlson explained his thoughts on the deep state to Blaze Founder Glen Beck. The former radio host asked Tucker if he believed any of the candidates could stop the deep state, inspiring a thought-provoking response from Carlson.

For context, Carlson began his comments by explaining the significant influence the deep state has in Washington. Building on these comments, he explained how intel agencies control Congress instead of vice versa and pointed to several deep state policies as examples.

In any case, the clip began with Geln Beck asking an insightful question. “Do we stop the deep state? Is that possible? From what you heard today from the candidates, you see, anybody that can stop the deep state?” he asked.

Responding with a provoking and worrying answer, Carslon noted, “I mean, I, you know, I don’t want to seem like crazy or realistic, or everyone calls it pretty tough. Pretty tough. It’s pretty, I mean, look, there’s a lot of power vested in the federal agencies. There’s no oversight at all. The Congress provides no oversight at all.”

Bringing his remarks to a close, Carlson painted a frightening picture. “The Intel committees do not oversee the Intel agencies. They’re controlled by the Intel agencies. I know the people who serve on them. That’s true. Does Mike McCall offer like a backstop against the agencies? But it’s a part of the agencies. Are you joking? They all are. So I think it’s very hard,” he said.

More recently, Tucker Carlson demolsihed former colleague Jennifer Griffin on his June 23, 2025, podcast, calling her a “liar,” “Trump hater,” and “deep state shill” who, nevertheless, was untouchable at Fox. “Jen Griffin is a liar, but also very liberal — a true Trump hater, to the point where I complained about her,” Tucker argued.

Digging into his opinions, he added, “And I really tried not to complain about other people at Fox when I worked there because I don’t like that office politics stuff, but she was discrediting the channel, a shill, obviously, for the deepest of deep states.”

Still not done taking the biased journalist to task, he noted, “But she’s like a parody. She’s like a parody. It’s like the whole thing. She was such a Trump hater, and it was emotional. Her internal memos were telling us—they were like screeds. It was like, ‘Oh, I’ll just read Politico Playbook if that’s what you want, or whatever. I’ll read Mother Jones.’”

Concluding his comments, he explained her power at the news network, “You could not touch Jennifer Griffin. And I said to an executive at Fox, ‘What are we doing with this Jennifer Griffin person? She’s an idiot. She doesn’t tell the truth. She misleads our viewers, and she’s like a screaming liberal who hates Trump, whom our viewers love. ” So, what are we getting out of this?” he said. “And I was told, ‘Oh, you could not touch Jennifer.'” I don’t know what that’s about.”
