Billionaire financier and funder of leftist causes George Soros is back in the news, with President Donald Trump having taken to his Truth Social platform to call for the infamous billionaire and his son Alex to face RICO charges over their funding of leftist causes, most notably their alleged involvement in funding “violent protests,” or riots.
As background, Soros has long been a perceived enemy of the political right, with many seeing him as a major reason for division in America and various terrible externalities of leftist policies, such as the soft on crime policies he has supported by helping fund the campaigns of soft on crime prosecutors.
Further, his involvement in various forms of government policy through working with NGOs and like non-profit entities has been in focus ever since his fellow billionaire Elon Musk called him out for weaponizing the federal government against the American people by leveraging his donations to and influence with the NGO complex.
In any case, on the morning of Wednesday, August 27, President Trump took to Truth Social to slam Soros and call for his arrest and prosecution, demanding that the Department of Justice use RICO law against him. “RICO” refers to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Passed in 1970, the federal law is a way of prosecuting organized crime by holding the leaders of criminal enterprises accountable for “predicate crimes,” or underlying criminal acts that generate criminal proceeds.
Beginning his post with a call for George and Alex Soros to face a RICO prosecution and citing their alleged involvement in financially backing rioters, the president said, “George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America.”
Continuing, the president accused Soros and his son of using their power and influence to divide America and inflict great damage upon it, including immense tyranny, saying, “We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE.”
Concluding, the president accused the financier and his friends of inflicting massive damage upon America, saying, “Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

For reference, the “violent protests” referred to by President Trump appear to be the financier working with other leftist groups to provision protests against President Trump’s crackdown on crime in DC with tens of millions of dollars. In fact, Soros himself was revealed to have provided millions of dollars to the groups involved, and overall the group of donors provided about $20 million.
Commenting on the matter in a statement, Caitlin Sutherland, the executive director of nonprofit watchdog Americans for Public Trust, said, “It is ironic that a protest to ostensibly ‘Free DC’ was hosted by Community Change, a group funded by massive amounts of outside dark money to push a pro-crime agenda.”
Adding to that, Sutherland noted that the protests have weakened American communities, saying, “DC is facing shootings, carjackings, and assaults, and yet progressive groups like The Pritzker Foundation, George Soros, and the Arabella Network all spend millions of dollars to manufacture protests that weaken our communities.”
